You are misreading me, as stated BT have a serious of BB offers available, one of which is Infinity 1 with unlimited downloading - this is a 17mb ASDL plan, not fibre, as such, go to TopCashBack website, link to BT offer and follow to BT website - both offers combined equals £210 cash back, bringing your 'real' cost below what Sky are giving - again, deal only works if you get paid out on all cash back offers with both BT and TCB, but actual deduction from your bank account is £33.49 per month.

Perhaps it's because you clicked through Topcashback (I'm at work so can't) but the only £24.99 deal I can see on BT's site is with a 12GB cap?

The UL ADSL is £32.99 which with both cashback deals works out at £16.82 a month (incl. £9.99 router cost).

Mine works out at £14.73 over 18 months.

Hi Colin, thanks for feedback, just to clarify BT are actually making it difficult to get to the 'unlimited' 17Mb offer on Infinity 1, for the record I have checked it via three links supplied by Quidco, TopCashBack and HotDealsUK, which has a long thread on the BT offer. I can state that Quidco are offering 2 deals that linkin to the BT Infinity 1 package with 'UNLIMITED' DL clearly stated.

For the record, when i check these deals I actually have to compare Oranges with Oranges, which for me means including 'anytime calls' in any package I look at as those are the packages I'd subscribe too on behalf of my parents, my mother liking her landline, as such, the Sky package I got worked out as the actual cost of Line rental only prior to price increases for 12 months - you are paying cheaper over 18 months, but this is not with Unlimited calls I believe.

However, our intent here is to assist peers in gaining decent deals that offer services they actually utilise. For me, if residing in the Uk, I'd be looking at the cheapest Fibre options. Alas, I can make no use of these personally, but good to know what prices are.

For the record, if consumers can get great deals without requiring the use of Cash Back sites, then these are the ones to opt for as no guarantee you'll get promised Cash Back - so my advice as ever, is to get best possible deal you can, and if you can linking to a Cash Back offer - do so - but treat it as a cherry on top, rather than the main reason to sign a contract.

Ahh, so you do have to link through the cashback sites, explains why I'm looking at entirely different deals (it's a minefield out there folk :( )

Agree with the rest of your post too although I must admit to not using the cashback sites as perhaps I should but just negotiating with the likes of Sky can be stressful enough without worrying about tracking payments.

I don't have any call package at all but Decembers cost for calls was 26p I think and a couple of quid either side of it so it's not a problem for us.

I was looking at getting a cheap fibre deal from Sky but we're moving at some point in the near future and I figure there's more chance of not getting caught out sticking with ADSL for now.

I've got to consider our gas/electric next with the same problem of a possible move but with the price rises I'm just going to have to take the chance with a main supplier.

If you are " in contract" with a provider for ADSL phone line and broadband and you choose to switch ue to price rises, it is my understanding that they cannot levy termination charges. Does this apply to both products or could they treat the line rental and BB separately?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    No, they're treated as one.

    Colin,

I re-new my parents utilities, telephone and home insurance & car insurance yearly, and having taken advice from MSE first and then utilised the CashBack sites, my folks are saving a minimum £500 per year, half of this comes from actual cost savings and the other half CashBacks - that's nearly £10 per week, so I'm happy to spend a few hours doing the donkey work for them. Indeed, I break my heart being stuck overseas in a country with hardly any real competition, made worse by the fact I live in the sticks!
  • Hi

I had sky broadband and talk installed on 16th December 2016.

I signed up for "free broadband with £15 line rental" for 12 months.
(Included a gift card and some top cash back)

    I had the email about price rises;
"The price of your Line Rental is increasing on 1 March 2017 by £1.59 a month. This change will show in your March bill.
Our Call Rates are increasing on 1 April 2017 and your new rates, showing from your April bill, will be:...."

I checked online billing; until this month the bill reads
    Broadband unlimited £10
    Broadband discount -£10
    Line rental £17.40
    Line rental discount -£2.40

The bill for next month reads
    Broadband unlimited £10
    Broadband discount -£10
    Line rental £18.99
    Line rental discount -£3.99

So it looks like my subscription price isn't changing.
I didn't make any calls since taking out the contract.

Am I still eligible to cancel for free within the 30 days.

I don't have any particular problems with the service or the price. But if I can cancel early for free then I could get another introductory deal.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

Had an online chat a few days ago regarding the email I was sent Re: price increase. I was told I could leave without penalty but there was no movement via online chat with regard to price.

Looked into offers available tome from other providers and armed with this called via cancellation line and being prepared to leave I negotiated a saving on my existing deal which negated the increase and a cheaper price than I was previously paying.

Could have been cheaper to move but I have no problems with the service and can move in the future to.

Just like to thank all that have posted and encouraged me to try it myself.:)

I did the same as you, or actually phoned Cancellations straight away on getting the Sky email and was instructed the MSE £12 BB + Phone contract I took out on 9th January was all I'd be paying for the full 12 months, so no price increase for my folks - although the !!!!!!s still owe me a £30 cancellation fee for breaking PlusNet contract by 3 weeks - will see what happens to that in first week of March - but cannot complain at unlimited BB and unlimited calls for £20 per month, not including a £50 cash back that's also tracking - however, anything over £20 per month is unwelcome period, unless its fibre.
  • Hi again.

I called sky. They said my subscription price wouldn't be changing. But because the call prices were changing I could cancel without the disconnection penalty.

    Just had a look around and I found this deal with BT;
    £24.99 / month for 12 months + £9.99 router fee
    -£100 MasterCard promotion
    -£100 top cash back

    = approx £9.15 per month
