It took me 1 phone call and 2 live chats to get the £1.59 discount and the £48 credit (half of the cost of the anytime calls), I also sent a letter to Edinburgh but I've not heard back from that yet.
I've always had most success from live chat when talking to someone in Asia although others have had the opposite experience so perhaps it's just down to pot luck.0 -
I guess you could but you risk being hit with early termination charges.
They state clearly on their price increase letter/email/website that if you want to leave due to the price increase you do need to notify them. That includes if you want to transfer your services to another provider.
Has anyone used the email/letter route and got an aknowledgement?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

It seems that it is letter/email/sky chat or phone call or all of the above. I suspect if you email or write, it will have mysteriously not been received and if you use chat, well they are almost never available to chat if you want to talk about accounts. I suspect they are deliberately obstructive just like so many similar companies.

I sent a letter last December and got a number of phone calls (all while I was out) and a number to call back on when it was convenient. I never bothered as I'd got through on live chat meanwhile. I have sent a 2nd one which they should have got earlier this week but not had a reply yet but again I got through on live chat yesterday and got an acceptable deal so they may not now.
Perhaps that's the trick with live chat, send a letter and immediately try it, I get through every time using that method0 -

If i want to use live chat - i simple use the cancel broadband link - hey presto live chat no problem !
Sometimes you have to be more sneaky/dishonest than they are0 -

It was the 'cancel broadband' link I could never get through on, I think I used 'upgrade broadband' as I thought maybe they'd be happier to talk to me if I wanted to spend more money.
In reality we probably get the same people regardless.
The price increases btw are:
Line Rental +£1.59
Broadband Unlimited +£2.50
Call Connection 16.9p to 19p
UK Landline 11.5p to 12.54p/min
UK Mobile - Daytime 11.5p to 19.35p/min
UK Mobile - Eve & Weekend 11.5p to 14.25p/min
I ended up with £1.59 a month discount to allow for the line rental charges and £48 credit (half of any time calls) to cover the increased call costs. We're extremely light users of the landline phone so it's all good for us. This is for 18 months or until they raise the prices again.0 -

Colin,
Before agreeing anything, check out present BT Infinity offers, for regular BB, and free weekend calls they are offering £25 per month with a £100 MasterCard cutback, whilst both Quidco and TopCashback are each offering £110 & £100 respectively CashBacks, meaning if you choose a bundle similar to your Sky bundle, actual monthly cost after all discounts and cash back is under £18 per month, actual charge is £33.49 a month, that's quite a saving as long as you get all Cashback offers, which are not 100% guaranteed.0 -

I'm paying £17.40 a month for UL ADSL (> 18.5Mbps download speed) plus a £48 credit. No calls package but we're very light users and probably don't use it at the weekends at all.0 -
It's about time I moved on as I have never been happy with Sky service or lack there of. They took over my Be broadband connection and gave me very poor connection speed with a low download and only half the upload that I had at Be*. A line fault that they tested and verified which they never corrected despite claiming that an Openreach engineer would visit. Websites which cannot be accessed when I want to access them but later, sometimes days later can be accessed. And yes the websites are verified as being up and running by independent websites. Just lousy Sky routing! Never being able to speak to anyone at convenient times. All this and they have the nerve to ask me for an extra £2.50 a month!!!!!!
It's finding a decent broadband provider who offer a decent connection at a decent price. Plusnet are junk and restrict the upload speed to something lower than even sky provide. Talk talk no better so it does not leave much.
Screw you Sky!0 -

If you contact them I'll be very surprised if you can't get Broadband Unlimited for free so the £2.50 rise is immaterial. If you do have a fault on the line that won't change with another supplier of course unless you go for Virgin and their own infrastructure.0 -
You are misreading me, as stated BT have a serious of BB offers available, one of which is Infinity 1 with unlimited downloading - this is a 17mb ASDL plan, not fibre, as such, go to TopCashBack website, link to BT offer and follow to BT website - both offers combined equals £210 cash back, bringing your 'real' cost below what Sky are giving - again, deal only works if you get paid out on all cash back offers with both BT and TCB, but actual deduction from your bank account is £33.49 per month.0
