  • Ahoy!
Caught by the Sirens tonight, which I definitely wasn't expecting. I had to take the naughty tortie cat to the vet. I thought it would be a free visit but it was £30 for the check up  Other than that it was pretty much the same as usual. There isn't anything to report here other than work, housework and sleep. Bit boring really...
    Today I am grateful for:
    Free tea at work
My Year 11 class making me laugh (for a change)
    My fluffy pj's
  • My spend day wasn't too bad. £14.36 on rations that should see us through to next weekend. Had something on my list that I found in disguise as a dolphin - saved 33p :) Nursery deposit was half price - £50 instead of £100 as they'd an offer on ( I get it refunded out of the 2nd months fees anyway.) Playgroup is £2 which hubby already had in change so no need to get anything out. Other than that just £20 fuel.

Little cabin boy is yawning and rubbing his eyes already so hoping the waves tonight will rock him to sleep very soon.

F0xh0les - I love any sci fi - brilliant escapism. :rotfl: at VD - I would def not think Valentines Day if I saw that!

Okay all food for the day packed in little rucksack (17l rather than the 65l shopping one). Walked to local history session. Walked to infirmary (also doctor's surgery) to collect prescription and into on-site chemist to get it filled. Had just missed the bus so walked back to town centre and into the Healthy Options shop, requested help with losing weight and exercise and have an appointment with them.

Need to make an appointment to see the doctor about one of the blood test results. Had had enough walking by then so went round the corner and got a taxi to mum's. Partner was at day care so a quiet pleasant afternoon. Meeting for his children to decide if he is to go into a home is tomorrow. Mum keeps saying it is for them to decide not her. I told her she has done an awful lot and as she is the person there 24/7 she should have a say. His doctor called yesterday and she thinks he needs to be in care now. Phoned my cousin and have details for my aunt's funeral - now have to wait and see if mum is well enough to go at all or to the church and then decide about going to the crematorium.

Taxi home but mum gave me a fiver which exactly covered the cost of both taxis so a spend neutral day (and I resisted the diet coke siren earlier). Also picked up a book of mindfulness exercises for well being and a book on photography using a smart phone in the library. Whilst doing the filing I found a poem from a wellbeing issue of a poetry magazine and have cut it to use as a bookmark, so I will see it often.

Today I am grateful for quiet time with mum, for making progress on several goals and for simple but tasty food (mostly healthy but then I got to eat one of partner's chicken and bacon lattices as he had started plying with his food).

Ahoy! This week feels like it's flying by! I have one more day at work then off for a week yippee! Looking out on the horizon - I see there be an impenetrable wall of fog looming, so we must be approaching our island refuge... which also means there will be reefs and Sirens about too... Stay vigilant! Try as best you can to resist spends and eek out another NSD before weekend...

Has everyone managed to find a day when they can take a few hours to themselves? I'm aiming for some time on Saturday, before I head off... More tomorrow...

    ;)

Car tax paid today, out of the car pot. It feels good to have some money set aside so I haven't got to stress about scraping together some pennies in a hurry.

Had my music lesson today & boxed up a stack of BF's dvds to send off to zifit.

    Nice productive day.

    I am grateful for:

Mine is over 20 yrs old and shop assistant showing me how mine was all hand stitched on the outside and how manufacturer couldn't afford to do that any so doesn't make coats anymore. So sort of fallen back in love with my coat even with slight leak on shoulder .Thanks sales asst.

    Evening all,

Home is a lot warmer today as new front door has been fitted, it got to the stage that we were having to kick the door to shut it and then we struggled to open it. So need to think about redecorating the hallway. The old door is going to DSIL for the new shed he is building.

Spent most of today at DS so new smart meter could be fitted, it only took them about 25 minutes once they arrived. DS & GF called and confirmed wedding in August, need to lose weight so I not look too bad in the photo's.

Snow has been forecast for Saturday in our area, as we live 1000 ft above sea level we tend to get snowed in, so doing stock take tomorrow and making sure we have all we need for the weekend.

Today I am grateful for a warm home, grown up children that live in their own homes and my new front door.

Today I am grateful for lovely colleagues, for getting a pupil to finally do one of his assessmets (2 down; 2 to go), for getting home in time to see dd doing some of her taekwondo, for the paella rice (BB 2010) being absolutely fine, for getting the paperwork for this year's examining jobs completed and returned.

Hello shipmates, I've been swept overboard but I'm glad to be back on. I've been in agony the past two days; it's like every single muscle in my body is protesting and up at arms against me. I agreed to join my friend to attend the legs, bums and tums class for the first time ever on Tuesday night and the rest is history. Good thing about it is, I've been in too much pain to be anywhere near where I would spend any money. Oh, and I didn't have to pay for the LB&T class either due to DS2 being in the ASD register. I also got a free lift from my friend. I've earned 2 NSD's so far, bringing my total up to 5. Hubby did a top up shop yesterday and spent £23.00 (including toiletries and laundry items). He's been doing all the cooking and the washing up during the last three days as well so I've been really spoilt rotten and I can't complain. Tonight he cooked a very nice chilli con carne which is also my LTW tomorrow.

I attended the sewing class yesterday and as per usual I managed to womble a piece of fabric for free which I am hoping to turn into a tank top. There always seems to be fresh supplies of people's unwanted/leftover fabric that they donate to the learning centre which we, the learners, are allowed to take home for free. if truth be told, I get more than my tuition's worth with the fabric I get to take home every week. I would value my wombled fabric at a low estimate of £3. I am currently doing a long sleeved dress shirt for my hubby using a fabric from my stash. I have so far stuck to my new year's resolution to use up my fabric stash and not to buy any more. Go me!

    Today I am grateful for
    1. My aches and pains all over my body after the legs, bums and tums class. The pain and the agony are my reminders that I did something about my weighty issues and at the same time a challenge for me to do it again to get rid of my excess baggages.
    2. My progress on my sewing project. Last night, I started working on the cuff and I am quite pleased with the outcome. I sometimes can't believe that I could actually make something out of a flat fabric. Since learning to sew a year ago, I have made enough work tops to wear for a month without wearing something twice. Most of them were refashioned or from wombled or freecycked fabric and didn't cost me anything.
    3. My loving hubby who does everything for me for love,
