I'm back all clean and refreshed
I lay in the bath going over hundreds of figures and plans in my head. I'm determined that 2019 is the year that I really make a dent in the debt.
Had a nice chat with DD on FaceTime and she has invited us to hers next Christmas and funnily enough invited us up in the summer to stay with her and SIL in his parents caravan. How strange, she must've read our minds about a smallish holiday. Would be lovely to spend some quality time with her. I miss having her around since she moved out. They know nothing of our financial situation and a caravan holiday ( love a caravan and I've not done that in years) would be inexpensive as we would share the costs between 2 couples. She said we would take all of our food and drink with us so very :money:
I will be sticking to my budgets like glue and making meals from the freezer. I will also be making as many overpayments as possible and hopefully clearing one debt

I've been watching a lot of Dave Ramsey on you tube and he talks so much sense and makes it all sound so easy. I like his quote
"You can't get out of debt while keeping the same lifestyle that got you there. Cut out everything except the basics". Very true.
I've had no luck on my eBay items although I have lots of watchers. Erm hello don't watch buy. I may drop the prices if they haven't sold by Thursday.

Wishing you a Happy New Year too.
Next years plans sound great:DI Believe.....

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

. Remember when I said 2019 is going to be our year
Well how does the saying go, spoke too soon
Our car had died and is 'not economically repairable' Putting that in language I understand it's knackered, kaput, finito, dead. Unless we want to spend more on it than it's worth.
OMG can you believe it. To say I'm  is an understatement. DH has been at the garage with it and came back with a long list of the issues. It's been playing up for a while now but in typical Motivated household fashion we've plodded on with it hoping it will go away.
DH needs it for work, he works ridiculously unsociable hours and public transport is not accessible to where he has to go at that hour.
The money we have saved is not enough to buy a newish Car and I'm petrified at the thought of using it all and going back to square one.
His mum has offered to help with a loan to buy a reliable used car purely for his work purposes but I'm like _pale_ DH is all for it (typical him that is). She knows nothing of our situation and there's no way we could tell her.
The only way I can think of doing it is to reduce our DMP payments for a few months until we've paid her back and then we pick up where we left off.
That'll teach me for being too over enthusiastic about a new year.
In typical English fashion I'm going to put the kettle on and think what the best plan of action will be.

Oh no motivated, having read your diary recently I was loving how fired up you were for the new year, only for this to happen.
You will find the right thing to do for you.0 -

Hi CCW007
Thanks for popping in. We've had bigger knocks than this in our lives and I'm sure it's just one of those hiccups on a debt free journey.
I put the kettle on and instead of tea I made a pot noodle. Well the diet can do one for a minute. I can't think straight without food

Oh no motivated. Sorry to hear that. Hope you manage to find a way to sort it that works for you.
Chin up and think of how well you have done x0 -
Thanks debtaghh
I feel like  arghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Right, tantrum over.
DH says we should take up his mums offer and we will be clear of it in around 6 months if we lower our DMP payments. He says if our washing machine or freezer dies (God forbid) then we still have emergency back up funds if need be. If we use it all on a car we will be up 5h1t creek without a paddle. Decisions decisions.
Back to work tomorrow just to rub salt in the wound

Morning all
Work for me today. To be honest I need my routine back I've been so lazy it's unreal. Anyway batteries charged and off to earn some more pennies. My eBay items end today and it looks like I've had no sales. Will relist later this evening and will lower the prices. Fingers crossed.
As for the car business DH is adamant we should take his mum up on her offer and pay it back over 6 months. She needs the money back by Christmas as she has a trip planned for herself. She's also a pensioner now and if she knew about our predicament she would worry herself to death. We've jiggled figures and wrote everything down and it is doable as long as our creditors don't kick off  Hopefully they will be ok.
By the end of the year also we will have submitted another F&F offer on our lowest CC and hopefully they will accept.
Hopefully a slightly earlier finish today as there are no kids in school. It will be very quiet today then :rotfl:

Hi motivated Happy New Year. What a pain in the butt about the car. If it was me I would take up the loan offer. If OH can't get to work you really would be in more trouble money wise. I know what you mean about thinking everything is ticking along nicely then ....... I let out houses which provides a nice income but like most people I have debts and if anything goes wrong with them I don't have savings to pay for it. I have to act promptly to keep my lovely tenants happy too. Hence I am on here trying to sort my life out but never getting to that stage where I have an emergency fund!
You are doing so well, are you self managing your dmp?Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0
