Morning all
I wondered if any of you have the predicted snow yet. None for us but blooming freezing out there :snow_grin
Can't believe how close to Christmas we are. This year has flown
Paid my last of the year's debt payments and grocery shopping done. DH is off to visit his relatives for the weekend on his own. He plans to go out with all the boys and the women are all busy organising their Christmases and visiting their families too. So I have decided to stay at home and that means I am home alone all weekend :T. Housework done, washing done, bills paid, shopping done, Heaven!
I am looking forward to some quality me time. Sitting in the warm and maybe a Christmas film and lots of reading on here.
Another positive is I've just recieved a cheque for £41.85p from Vanquis CC from hundreds of years ago. I didn't even know I was getting anything. Not a life changing amount but it's £41.85 I never had yesterday

Went out to deposit my cheque, went to the counter and the lady looked at me. I said can I deposit this cheque please. She replied no. When I questioned it she said you're in the wrong bank :rotfl::rotfl:I was in the Halifax and then realised I don't bank with then anymore since starting my DMP ::o:o
Swiftly headed across the road to Santander. Cheque deposited successfully.
That's twice I've done that
How embarrassing.

Good news about the cheque, and a few pounds here and there soon adds up
Had to laugh at trying to pay into the wrong bank..... sounds like the type of thing I would do ---- the excuse being there's too much on my mind :rotfl:
We've been predicted the 'freezing rain' that turns everything into an ice rink, but it hasn't arrived yet, and I'm REALLY hoping it doesn't as it will cause chaos on the roads.:eek:I Believe.....

Hi Chrystal
We now have the freezing rain. It's absolutely chucking it down with heavy winds.
Glad I'm tucked up in doors

Hello diary world
4 days until Christmas and i'm still at work  last day tomorrow so I can see the finish line now at least.
Just so looking forward to having a chill out over Christmas and recharging my batteries.
Just need to buy a few (and I mean a few) bits of food shopping at the weekend. Like some fresh ham and pickles. Determined not to go overboard as I have been known to do in the pastWe already have the main of our Christmas food so I will be popping to the local shops to finish off the last bits. No car journeys, No shopping trolleys, no debit card. Just plain old cash and a 5 minute walk. This is to remove any temptation to buy things we do not need.
Myself and DH have decided that we will not be buying for each other this Christmas too. We both have no idea what we want and it's pointless buying something for the sake of it. We plan to go out in January for a nice lunch and then treat ourselves to something in the sales. All very :money: of course.
I still have my sensible head on and hope it stays on throughout next year too.
My surprise cheque has cleared so I will probably use that cash for my minuscule food shop

:xmastree: I have officially started my Christmas holidays from work and it feels amazing :xmastree:
Finished work early so went and did my last bits of grocery shop and I don't have to leave the house all weekend if I don't want to. The shops were surprisingly quiet, I thought it was going to be like trolley wars. Maybe people plan to do theirs over the weekend or even Monday  No thankyou very much. I can't handle crowded shops and long queues.
Just glad I'm not travelling abroad at the moment. All those poor people at Gatwick stranded how sad. Those poor children expecting to go to Lapland to see Santa and some fool thinks it's hilarious to do what they are doing
I know where I would like to stick that drone if I found who was behind it all.

Have just been informed that we have lots of family members visiting today  usually I would panic and think what am I going to feed them? In the past I would rush out and buy rolls, ham, drinks and cakes etc and come back £25 lighter. Not today I'm going to give them a sandwich and tea and coffee. We have lots of crisps and snacks so they won't go home hungry.
They don't know about our situation and that £25 is better spent elsewhere
I've been playing around with numbers this morning as the new year approaches I want to reach the goals I have set myself. When I read back on my first few diary posts I can feel the desperation and panic in the words. It's nearly the same time as that again and I NEVER want to feel like that again EVER! When I think about the way DH and I were at the time I started this diary like our marriage, communication, stress, blaming each other etc it was horrendous. But we got through it and now we are both so much more together on this.
DH has been mentioning a holiday and we are thinking about setting up a separate savings pot/account and pay what we can into it. Depending how much we would have around August is the type of holiday we may have. It sounds selfish considering the mess we are in but it could be something that keeps us sane as a couple. I hope we can do this as we may end up at windowsill bay again :rotfl:

Just catching up on your latest posts and it comes over strongly how much in control you are! The savings pot for a holiday is an excellent idea, we need something to look forward to especially when everyday is a 'head down and plough on' sort of experience.
I'm so pleased you and your DH can pull together on this too.
Hope you have a good time with your visitors.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Just popping in to wish everybody a merry Christmas whatever you are doing today A special thank you to all who support me and offer kind words of encouragement. If only you knew how much it means. :xmastree:
A pretty quiet one in the motivated household but will still make the most of it.
Have a good one all
