So far I think you are the only person I see that has had success with this mid-contract. I'm still confused as to why they've committed to it as the channels are not gone yet and there is no confirmation they will disappear.
I appreciate the effort and info, I hope it'll work out for me also but I can't get into the chat - always busy.
there are a few people on digital spy who are saying they've cancelled because of this - i suppose not "loads" to be fair, but i've read a couple of posts from people who have cancelled.
i got lucky with live chat though. it's a nightmare to get on to 95% of the time0 -
I called up Sky there and had a chat with them. Basically said no action can be taken at the moment because the channels aren't gone as yet. He did mention that the T&C's allow for change to the channels and also the price but I quoted the section about reducing the channels and being disadvantaged but happy to wait for now and see what happens.0

Last night TLC had a banner on the screen about Sky leaving them from the 1st Feb.0

Last year - Sky had just 1 complaint per 100,000 TV customers (https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/latest/features-and-news/complaints-figures)This year, I think that this will increase SLIGHTLY ?0

We have worked really hard for more than a year to get a deal done for our customers with Discovery, so we are disappointed with their misleading claims and aggressive actions
And now we have Discovery's rebuttal to Sky's rebuttal: https://twitter.com/DiscoveryUK
Sky's statement is unfortunately based on 'Alternative Facts'.
Where's the popcorn? :cool:0 -
There was talk (about 12 months ago) of Sky, putting F1 on a FTA channel - however, nothing has been heard about this since - does anybody remember hearing this or was it imaginary ?0

The last I remember is that F1 was no longer going to be available on FTA after this year and would be exclusively on Sky.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ha Ha! I'm sure I've read more than one complaint on here and everywhere else about SKY. In fact the internet is littered with them. And their own forum is an eye-opener, to say the least.
Sky is actually under investigation by ofcom for manipulating its customer satisfaction and complaint figures. 1 in 100,000 TV customers? Really? Well would you believe that!!???!!
Trollox. Their customer service is just as disgraceful as everyone elses and they are about to get found out, officially!!! And not before time, either.

I could go on, but don't want to interrupt a good thread.0 -
Just cancelled my Sky mid-contract. I quoted the reasons listed on MSE (Breach of contract and Consumer rights). There was some discussion and denials by Sky especially claiming the programs are not yet off air. Stuck to my guns and the contract is cancelled with 31 days notice taken into account - so 31 days to watch my saved programs. I think I could have got away with the 31 days notice as it is stipulated in the contract which they breached so should not have to be taken into account.
For info - when asked why you are phoning say - cancel sky
The first call taker will attempt to pass you to another Department - just ask them for a ring back.
I was phoned back within 10 minutes and all done and dusted 5 minutes after that.
Don't accept any 'hold the line' comments as the first time I rang I was left waiting for 15 minutes before I hung up and tried again.0 -
In thinking of phoning up to cancel as I'm out of contract , will follow the above line of discovery being removed .
I have the 30 days to change my mind but want to make a point.Ex forum ambassador
