Electric cars

No, I didn't. (The five hour figure, btw, came from JCB's own brochure.)
Some vacuous D-list ex-minor-league actor who's being allowed to play with a mini-digger. Woo. Oh, but it's electric...
Mini-diggers are good fun. I rented a tiddler like that, to do the base for moving our LPG tank, and I've had a quick go in a 6t while the groundworks for the garage were being done. What drives the hydraulic pump is pretty much irrelevant.
:rotfl: Guess you didn't watch the video then with the JCB representative.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.0 -
I'm sorry, was I somehow unclear? No, I didn't. (The five hour figure, btw, came from JCB's own brochure.)

Isn't this also one of the things you were adamant would never happen?
An electric mini-digger is brilliant and a brilliant use-case for electrification. Makes a nicer site environment, presumably quieter, unlikely to be getting used for more than 5 hours at a pop. Doesn't need to do a 400 mile non-stop trip on it's own steam.
Hell, if you could get it to charge whilst running, it might never actually need to stop all day.0 -

And especially not since that's actually been on the market for a year and a half.0 -
You're right actually, I asked you back on page 20 when we were talking about combines (being the last thing to be converted to battery) why electric tractors/diggers/loaders wouldn't be viable but you didn't answer it.
I'm glad you're not in total disagreement regarding the convenience of electrification.0 -

Ah, yes. A side comment in the last sentence of post 401, just over on page 21.For the record; I think we'll see small plant being electrified in the near future (bobcats, loaders, diggers, small tractors), and that combine harvesters will be about the last things left running diesel in 25 years.
Or, even Fendt's announcement of this less than a month later.

... chip, chip, chip ... every little win for electrification results in a little win for the environment and a little loss for those who are opposed to change ...

Just seen a 2015 Peugeot i-on with balance of 8 year warranty for £8k.
Would be for a ca, 50 mile round-trip commute 4 or 5 times a week, pus general shopping trolley duties.
What do you reckon?
Yes I can get a new Kia or Suzuki for the same money, but I'm not bothered about newness for its own sake.0 -
It's quoted as having 93 mile range, so you should be OK but may be pushing it if there's much degradation or bad winters.
Do you have the ability to charge at home and work? If so, then it could be a good buy.
https://ev-database.uk/car/1095/Peugeot-iOn has it as only having a 53 mile real world range which would sink you if you couldn't charge at both ends.BTW, pointing to the realities of practicality and feasibility is not the same thing as being opposed or in disagreement. As I keep pointing out...
Of course they aren't. But what you haven't been doing is pointing to the realities of practicality, since you usually end off being corrected as to the actual realities.
Or are you now accepting that modern EVs would be suitable for most drivers use cases?0
