So these "showroom" cars won't even be European spec (or, at least, a taster, since it would be safe to guess at them not having gone through UNECE type approval yet), let alone RHD for the Japanese one(s)? They've simply shipped a small handful of unregisterable US-spec cars...? That just makes the announcement even more underwhelming, then.

Meanwhile, the Bloomberg tracker is estimating Q4 production to date as ~30k cars. We're half-way through the quarter - so we're not currently looking at any advance on Q3's 55k cars. Until they get that properly sorted, the US backlog simply isn't going to allow much in the way of proper export production.

And, yes, you can reserve one for UK delivery, in just the same way as you've been able to for ages - no change there...

Correct, so kinda makes you wonder why you denied it earlier, almost like you're spreading FUD.

I guess you could no longer pretend numbers were small in the US now that it's the highest selling BEV, and Tesla is the highest seller of BEV's worldwide, so you have to create a new metric to knock them by ...... so sad. :(
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

To those still desperately seeking negativity perhaps. Good thing you aren't anti-EV nor anti-Tesla. :undecided

    <shrug> Fine.

They've put some cars (that can't be sold or registered) into showrooms in some countries (but not this country)!

You now only need to get on Eurostar to lick a Model 3 before reserving your place in the queue!

Nothing else has changed! You might get to drive one in 2020, maybe!

Break out the dancing girls! All praise St Elon!

There are some registered the various countries (or at least Germany), presumably for some for conformance testing. These cars being sent to showrooms are to allow the people who've reserved one the opportunity to go and see one (albeit not in EU spec). Lots of these people are excited by the prospect, though understandably you aren't.

I'm not sure why the taste is so important. If the spec is at all realistic then it's already sold itself.

RHD production starts early 2019, so those that have ordered them already will be getting them shortly after (as production keeps up). I won't get to drive one until about 2022 when the fleet stuff will be hitting the used market.

Yes, I'd hope that there are cars on the road, registered using the various low-volume exemptions that allow for prototypes and test cars.

As I said... Sure, but apart from that - it adds nothing.

    I admire your optimism.

    Perhaps.

So how long would you say an order placed today, after walking into the Paris or Amsterdam or wherever (but not London) showroom and stroking their static demo car, will take before it's delivered? Is there any difference to if that order was placed blind last week?

I suspect the European old boys are starting to get nervous

    [STRIKE]Omar[/STRIKE] Tesla is coming!

BTW it might be the second half of 2019 for the RHD versions:

Tesla Model 3 In Europe Will Come With A CCS Charging Port
As Elon Musk has noted previously, left-hand-drive versions of the Model 3 are expected to be available in Europe in the first half of 2019 with right-hand-drive versions coming available in the second half of next year.

For me, it's a secondhand MY around 2025, with a lottery win sometime in-between.

    No one said it did.

No idea. Like I said there's a 42 week lead time for a the Hyundai BEV, so I expect it's a long time.

No. Why would it be? They've sent over some display cars, not opened another factory.

Great, so we're all agreed that this is a bit of a non-story.
