Afternoon Wednesday Penny-wranglers,
Not the biggest list of money saving activity today as I've had a lot of other stuff to sort out this morning, which I've managed to do, despite waking up with a headache. Paracetamol has worn off now, so I intend to put the kettle on in a minute, sit down & see if I can't shake it off. It's not too bad a one. Anyway, money bits, such as they are:
*Draped last night's overnight laundry on heated airer & re-loaded for final cheap overnight wash of the week. 4 loads is a lot for us. Usually it's 2 (on very rare occasions, 3 & sometimes just 1, but never 4 unless, like this weekend, we've had guests staying & there's extra bedding & towels)
*Make packed lunch for tomorrow. I have identified 2 use-it-up items for this.
*Dinner will be the rest of the big cottage pie I cooked last night with some more of our home-grown cabbage.
*Did a few surveys. Cashed in on Toluna for next voucher (£15 Sainsbury's giftcard) I usually opt for this, as I can use it for homeware, presents, etc, or swap it into the grocery budget thus freeing up a £15 payment into the Loan Pay Down Fund.
*Wrote a letter using an envelope from my recycled stash.
*Write up ingredients labels for some of my marmalade as I sold 7 jars last night.
*Checked ebay for any signs of life. 2 watchers on one item but the jury's out on whether either of them will put their hands in their pocket to pay out the vast £1.50 I'm charging! Ooooh, Mrs Leery.......& of course if it was one of us, we'd be saying, every little helps, so don't go blowing £1.50 unless you really need it & it's going to be useful, wouldn't we?!
*Continue knitting current order. This is scrummy sock-yarn, so pretty for the Spring. I've turned the heel & shaped the foot, so want to get the foot knitted today at least.
*All free leisure activities today....apart from the knitting, I intend to watch a recorded TV programme, finish reading a magazine & I have also updated my blog.
So there we are, not a very long or exciting list, as I have just had too much other stuff to sort out today, but I'm keeping the faith anyway because I really do want to step up building that loan paydown fund. I know we considered this option very carefully & chose well & for a non-frivolous reason, but since we got the last of our big debt paid off in 2011, I have become very debt-averse & it just really bugs me that we have a loan, even though it's a fraction of what we owed at its peak. I totally loved being debt-free after so very many years (apart from the mortgage) so this very modest loan is really annoying me!
Stay warm everyone......very icy here again first thing, but sunny & cold now.
Cheers,

La E We use c0stc0. When i first went I had a little book of things I bought elsewhere with the prices in so I wouldn't be tempted. Now I just pretty much by the same things (at varying intervals) as I know which are good value and which aren't. DW tablets, washing powder, peanut butter, tuna, diet c0ke, cartons of apple juice, frozen raspberries are probably our most regular purchases
Some might seem frivolous, but for £3.29 for 24 cartons of apple juice that I can take pretty much anywhere and my 4 and 7 year old can drink when were out and about is cheaper than buying them in lots of places. We obviously take bottles of tap water too, but this feels like a treat to them but is not £1,50 a carton.

I read on another thread somewhere about your MA, sounds very exciting! I bought myself a packet of posh M&S crisps :rotfl:

Evening all
I ate breakfast and lunch from my store drawer but did splurge on afore mentioned crisps, I was actually on another leg of the big courgette hunt (I an a woman possessed!) but they didn't have any, tomorrow the market.
Dinner was the anchovy spaghetti, sans courgettes, I bought the last pack of YS courgetti spaghetti but it was smelly mush so went in the bin, a waste of 64p.
My mum has given me £500 :A I have decided to add another £100 to it and put it in my mortgage account and then, with what I have saved over the last few months, I will be four mortgage payments ahead in there which will take the pressure off me a bit. I wanted to save a lot more myself and should have been able to but I'm also a little bit pleased with myself as there were times when I didn't even think I'd do that!

Evening :hello:
I am still alive - just really busy (as always). I've been working 10 hour days this week, plus taking kids to various clubs. This is literally the first chance I've had to get on here.
There's not much to report - it is a case of sleep, work, kids club, and repeat so far this week...
I'm off to read through what you've all been up to.Not giving up

I've been a long term lurker on these boards but have been abit too shy to post before now, but after a haul of YS items tonight by chance, I've decided to jump in and join if u guys don't mind.
I've only 6 payments left on my IVA which feels like an eternity but boy has it changed the mindset to budgeting and waste.
Have started posting on the Christmas threads aswell because I have a large amount of family to buy for and if I don't spread it out, I just wouldn't be able to afford it.
The thing I am most proudest about is how my daughter who is off to uni in Sept has also got into the money saving mindset and loves a YS bargain better than me:T and I've taught her to always look out and check for any discount codes before buying online.:T:TDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
