Angelpye
I second Cherry Daff I remember playing in our garden as a child with the hose and a small paddling pool, I enjoyed making cakes and making home made crisps. We never went on holiday and I have very fond memories of my childhood. Your right we are very lucky to have food on the table, houses and clothing and safe from war.
I have Fun Friday with my DD and it usually involves baking or watching a movie swathed in blankets. It's the little things that matter, it's feeling safe, loved and cared for that is most important; they will mostly forget the material things. Xx LP XxCompetition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -

Gosh, that made me chuckle!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thank you guys for support today. Think I will have low days but I am going to try to remind myself that this will pass and at least I am doing something about it. I only really acknowledged things need sorting last week so its likely some of the LBM blues.
Cheery Daff, I know you are right. My most treasured memories are of really random cheap things I did with my grandparents.
And Lucky Penny - yes! We have a little ritual that got lost in xmas due to switching of days with her dad, I will ensure this week we do it. Thank youHappiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Dear Lord, DS2 has spent £23 of his birthday money on a sweatshirt with rips across the front and shoulders. Dont tell him but he looks like something out of one of those zombie attack movies. I am getting old.
Angelpye my kids have grown up with having most of what other kids have (even if it required some clever saving or ebaying on my part at times). I do beat myself up at times, especially when they worry about money and the cost of things but you do what you can dont you?
So - out at both paid jobs today. Loving what I am doing with job no. 2 at the moment but this is only a temporary second job. Hoping it lasts as long as possible. Gym class tonight. HM chilli and jackets, chilli went in sc before work.
Bed now.0 -
Yorkshirelass...oh for sure, if I break it down my DD isn't missing anything on a day to day and she is unaware of any worries I have. Action plan brewing to sell things and get past this. Thank you
The ripped clothes thing...I read somewhere the sentiment of feeling a bit sorry for young people as they no longer have the confidence to customise their own clothes to the look i.e buying a cheap or second hand sweater or jeans and ripping themselves like true punks did. But instead the shops have managed to claim it as a value added item?! Crazy!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Such a late check in for me, so I can't be bothered to write my full list will just give you the headlines :rotfl:
Impressive rebates ladies, I always do mine last minute (although this year it was in December :A) but then I think why didn't I do it earlier as I could be earning interest on the rebateAnyway, enjoy the fruits of your labour.
So today:
SC on this morning, sausage and haricot bean casserole - used some carrots that had frozen in the outside fridge  and some left over BNS/cheese sauce
Check banking, updated my various sheets, paid the tradesman who did all the lovely work last week. PAD for today and tomorrow as tomorrow is going to be a long day :rotfl: reducing 1p pot already nearly £100 since Jan 1
limited heating on, washing on airers not TD
lots of additional work tonight so no real home stuff, shame I don't get overtime - hopefully it will make tomorrow less stressful
Right off to read a few diaries. pf0 -
Morning all
Babysitting today at DD's, and OH is out all day at a first aid course, so up early again to try to get something done. DS has taken his dog out, made a sandwich and gone to work, OH is still in bed, so having a peaceful breakfast at least
Today's small things:
Might buy GD a small packet of chocolate buttons as she is poorly againbut not expecting to spend anything other than that Done, came in very handy for bribery purposes, as she has conjunctivitis and has to have eye drops, which she hates
75p well spent I think, as there are lots left for further eye drops applications! Nothing else spent
Post RM surveys item Done
Peg out washing, it is cold again, but dry It started off promising, cold and frosty but with a breeze, then it got really foggy and damp, so the washing is just as wet as when I put it outOnto the airer with it!
Make sure heating is off downstairs as we are going to be out for most of the day, and the wood stove can be lit when we get back Done
Take a sandwich that has been lurking in the fridge for a couple of days with me for lunch, to use it up (it is perfectly fine, wrapped in clingfilm in a tupperware box and made with nice ham). No waste here unless it absolutely can't be avoided! Done, it was lovely!
OH is cooking tonightHe will use ingredients we already have - shepherds pie planned I think! Done, and DS has volunteered to cook tomorrow :T
Pack an ebay item later Not done yet, and I have now sold 3 more things, so a concerted effort is needed tomorrow!
Check for surveys later Didn't get to this, but will check emails in case
No point in being too ambitious today!0
