Morning all
For various reasons, last night was the first night DS has stayed here, so I got up with him at 5am to make sure he could find everything he wanted. Off to shower and wash my hair in a minute.
Managed a couple of bits of admin so far:
Paid milk bill online, £5.67
Checked banks
Tried to log on to my Post Office account to check the balance on my Drop and Go (biz parcels) account, but the web site is down. It was down last night - the message displayed is to 'check back in a few minutes' which is what showed last night as well.... wonder what is going on there? Seems to be sorted out now, whatever it was
Sorted out my purse / bag to get rid of the clutter of receipts and till spits that I haven't used / won't use
Also fed dog, though he hasn't eaten it. Things are a bit fraught between dogs at the moment as DS's dog bit our little one last nightNot an easy situation to manage in our small house. Hope it settles down. DS came home from work quite early, took the dog out and now he has gone out to see friends and taken it with him - so a peaceful evening :T
Still to do:
Need to buy bread, tomato puree and a couple of other bits. Will take a list and stick to it! Ended up just getting bread plus a YS pack of salami (33p :T) at the farm shop next to the garden centre we went to for fencing materials
Minimal cooking today, as we have HM soup, lasagne and cold roast pork in the fridge :T Pork roll each for lunch, made a salad and garlic bread to go with the lasagne for dinner, plenty for 3, and enough pork and rolls for DS to take tomorrow if he wants ti
Help OH to put up a temp fence round the garden raised beds to keep dogs off. Will probably need to buy materials for thisbut will see what we have first! Done, cost just over £30
I have one ebay parcel to wrap Sold another item, walked dog to the post office with both parcels this afternoon
Must motivate myself to list at least a couple of things! Listed onethe light had got too bad for photos by the time I had helped with fencing / been to the post office
See if I have enough washing for a full load Didn't earlier, might now!
Check for surveys, getting close to payout on a couple of sites, so they are getting thin on the ground! Found one survey for onepoll
Business paperwork Done :T
Pop into local vets (they are only a few minutes walk away) and register DS's dog as he keeps on at his earsThen DS can make an appointment when convenient - he is not sure of hours etc with his new job yet. Didn't get to this
I can't think of anything else at the moment, so will be back to update later
Going to DD's to babysit tomorrow, so minimal achievements expected!0 -
Hi everyone
Dawn - How long will you have your DS's dog? I can imagine how stressful the situ is for you. :grouphug: Hope your dog is ok.
Another day at home for me. I probably could log on and do a little bit of work but the thought of trying to do a full 7.5h is painful so I guess it will be another sick day for me.(More fool them for having such a tight time recording/client charging system - puts you off doing just a little bit)
Will be good for my DFW-ways as still not really eating.
My energy tariff is coming to an end so I should look into that at some point.
Need to sort YNAB - tempted to wait until next week's payday and then 'start afresh' - might look into a brand new budget for 2017... Been thinking about not having a cash account and instead classing money as 'spent' as soon as it leaves our account... OH gets quite a bit of real cash from job#2 so we could class that as 'earned' when he transfers it to his a/c (e.g. once a week) rather than tracking cash in and out constantly, which is the most annoying part and causes most friction between me and OH because I'm constantly on at him about tracking it. :rotfl:
Other small thingies:
- not wash my hair
- only look for free patterns online :A
- read free Kindle book - can't remember the last time I bought one
- ponder over YNAB
- check energy tariff deals
- tidy home tidy mind... see what I can do around the house - maybe take out the recycling :A
- crochet
- will find the hot water bottle and turn off the heating - nice tip ladies
Take care everyone!0 -
Morning
man have just started getting a visual migraine so that will mean I will feel horrid after it passes.... It also means oh has to go solo with getting madam ready
Thanks for the moral support over the situations at work, goes with the territory!
La e hope you're feeling better now. Honestly better to stay away from work than see it go through all of your office like wild fire!
Hi & welcome to the new comers - sorry due to not being able to see properly I can't go back and see your names! Stick with us, we're a friendly 7 supportive bunch.
Day off today without madamPlans are:
* finish tax return - I now have all the info. Calling old employer wasn't bad at all, although they didn't help and I called the Inland Rev to get the details
* go for a run - week 3 run 2
* I want to go and get some new trainers as am getting runners knee. Proving to be hard to get the right kind of trainers that fits with my budget....
* tidy up the house. It's a mess!
* check onepoll - determined to get to £40 payout!
* do some research into master's application
* meal from meal plan
* madam taking sausage pasta for lunch to use up 1/2 a sausage and some tomato sauce made for pizza last week but had too much
* send an email to a colleague in case things get difficult while I'm off
That'll do! Hope you all have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

MOrning all, and welcome to the new folks
DNMs, hope your migraine passes soon, sounds rotten
Dawn, sorry to hear about the dog, can't be easy to deal with!
Someone asked about how to track money out of different pots, I'm sorry, I can't remember who it wasI use YNAB and love it - but the software isn't free! You can use the same method for free though, it's basically a kind of virtual envelope system
PurpleFairy26 wrote: »Its a slice of BNS cut to make it look like a round waffle (potato waffle styleee) they are ok, but wouldn't rush to buy them again (unless ys of course :rotfl:) they aren't very MSE for what they actually are, but v buying chips from the chippy they are both on purse and arterieswell done on £25 shop, wish I could get it near that
Ah thanksProbably won't be rushing out to buy squaffles any time soon however cheerful they sound :rotfl:
I think we can only get close to £25 shop because we mostly shop at @ldi, don't buy meat, and buy mostly 'ingredients' - and there are only two of us and we don't mind having porridge for every breakfast, and occasionally for tea too if we're being idleOtherwise it does requite a lot of cooking!
Right, I really need to go to work... but here's my list for today...
* did sw@gbucks survey for 46 SBs
* set the breadmaker last night so woke up to the smell of fresh bread :j Sliced up for lunch and freezer for rest of week, and there's still a few slices for Mr Cheery's breakfast
* got defrosted home made soup and bread for lunch, and carrot cake muffins for snacks
* bought 4 pints milk from the supermarket last night for the work tea kitty - saves us buying it in the cafe at 60p a pint
* cycling to work and back - free exercise
* will check banks/ynab tonight
* bit of DIY tonight - paint over the bit I plastered last week - will need a few coats so might as well start now
* investigate varnish for behind the kitchen sink before I splash it too much
* plan food for tomorrow and Thursday - I'm at a different office for the afternoon tomorrow so will need to transport lunch, and on a long train trip on Thursday - won't need lunch but will need snacks for a picnic
That's it I think :j Have a good day all0 -

I have 1 account for all of my savings & the joint account. I did this a few months ago when the fees increased and it made sens to only pay 1 monthly £5 fee. I use a s/s to know what is in what "pot" and I have a book that I record all monthly ins & outs and a tiny little pocket notebook to record all spends throughout the month and then reconcile around payday. Seems a little complicated but it works for me. I don't spend very long on it. Keep all receipts and update spending diary every few days/1 x a week and about an hour once a month doing the reconciling. Due to earning so little I couldn't really justify the YNAB costDF as at 30/12/16

Morning, morning!
Should be another no spend day today as I forgot my purse so that should help matters!
--Brought my lunch form home, cheese and ham sarnie, a banana, Satsuma and a the last bit of Christmas fruitcake my grandma sent me.
--Dinner should be easy, bacon and kale pasta. Must check the recipe as never done it before.
--Need to photograph some things for ebay that didn't do last night as I was so knackered.
--Check out swagbucks. I only signed up at the weekend so I'm still working out the best ways to use it, any tips welcome!
--Need to investigate getting shoes for a wedding at the end of Feb where I am a bridesmaid. Think I've found some that are reasonably priced and I should be able to sell on afterwards as the colour scheme is not entirely to my taste
Pay day in a week:j0 -
Morning everyone, I've been up since 5am with DS as he didn't settle back to sleep after his early feed! Bring him downstairs, out him in his bouncer so I could make a drink, come back in and he is fast asleep! Typical and I'm awake! Anyways I'm hoping for a NSD, I've got the dentist which will be free as my maternity exemption is still valid until November and I will use my bus pass to get there and then Ill be coming home to take photos to list on Ebay! Today:
- Dentist
- Take photos and list DS bits on Ebay
- Check bank accounts
- B/L/D from home
I think that's about it, Ebay listing should take me about 5 hours! Have a good day all xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -

We will have DS (who is not much trouble) and his dog (who is) probably till May or June, when DS will need to be able to rent somewhere of his own (complicated family stuff). We are helping DS by providing somewhere free for him to live while he sorts stuff out, gets established in his new job etc. We can afford to help him out like this, because I am careful and budget, but practically it is quite difficult and stressful, for example, I am not able to have little GD here on babysitting days, as the dog isn't used to little ones and would knock her over (we don't have that much space). I shall need to go to DD's for the days in question..... which means leaving the dogs here, separated of course! Hopefully it will get easier!
