Good Morning Everyone,
I'm sat here under a blanket to keep warm as it's so cold today.
All meals will be from cupboards/freezer again - possibly lentil chili with leftover rice.
Hoping for a NSD today.
Dance class tonight which is pre-paid until the end of next month.
Checked banking
I have loads to put on fleabay but the thought of it makes me want to hide under my blanket! I'll put on some of the larger items that are in the way then I'll have some space in our dining room which means I can re-organise it and that will make me happy :-)
Little else happening today for me, have a great day everyone.2024 Challenges

I woke at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep, usually I'd come downstairs and make a start but the bed was warm and I was comfortable so I decided to stay put (as I knew the heating wouldn't go on til 6am for dh) I did eventually drop off after dh went at 6.45am, due to get up at 7am.... next thing I knew it was 7.38am! whoops Good job kids lunches/uniforms etc were ready to go!
Today's list
* Kids to breakfast club for free done
* On my 3rd :coffee: now, this is the one I'm using up before trying something new at the weekend as we aren't keen on this one but dh is still open to trying othersdone
* DM'd Tesc0 clubcard as I was having an issue with having an old card number on my account instead of the MrT credit card clubcard that I use. Got a reply back really quickly and its now all sorted, this has been an ongoing issue for ages and ages and has been on my annoying list for so long but all done nowdone
* From yesterday's list Sort out box of cross stitch fabric & supplies that my mum sent me, includes lots of cards/envelopes for x stich, haven't done x stitch in yrs so need to find some small ones to do and start making some cards. I have lots and lots and lots of the threads so this is part of operation use up!

Us - Got meatballs out for us and I need to make a tomato based sauce to go with it (make a big batch so that we have some for us all tomorrow night too) done, tin of toms, gratged carrot, sweetcorn, peas, peppers previously chopped and frozen, some lentils, a handful of porridge oats, some spinach that was turning, some lamb oxo cubes that had gone all soft - only 4yrs OOD , jar of pickled onions, tom puree and some Italian spice mix herb thingy that I got over a year ago from checkoutsmart for free
* Use something from the useup box a jar of pickled onions chopped and added to the meatballs sauce
* Four baths from one lot of hot water & continue using up various lotions and potions
* Clean kitchen using stardrops & microfbre cloths done
* Kids to prepaid swim lessons tonight, won't take purse but will take them a snack each
That's my list for starters, might do more or might have a nap!

StarRose - Yes, the hot water bottle trick is great for keeping the heating off that bit longer....especially with a throw or blanket round you as well. In fact, I did that yesterday while watching tv & doing a bit of mending & I wss too hot!!

Morning all,
So icy this morning. Nearly went ar*e over tip on our coutyard a minute ago, even though I'd got my DMs on. Today's money saving things:
*NSD
*Defrosting home made soup from freezer for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Harvested all remaining cabbage from veggie garden. Will shred, blanch, bag & freeze.
*Make big cottage pie with leek mash to feed us for 2 days.
*Make l/o mince into 2 burgers for freezer to roll forward for another meal.
*Costed out the marmalade I made last week. Worked out how many jars I need for myself, gifts, etc. That leaves 10 jars I could potentially sell if I want to.
*Knit more of latest order.
*Last night"s cheap tariff laundry now on heated airer. Next load will go on timer for tonight.
*Start looking through vast recipe book collection to find something nice to cook for Valentine's Day. Mr f will be working late so rather than go out or blow silly cash on a takeaway, I thought I would make a special dinner.
Well, that's my coffee break over.....time to go & shred all that cabbage!
Hope the Poorlies feel better soon.
DNMS - I used to get those visual migraines occasionally. It was always the same trigger for me.....low blood sugar from a missed or very late meal on a day when I was feeling hideously stressed. I had to carry a pack of oatcakes & a little pot of raisins with me at all times for emergency rations!

Hopefully things will settle down Dawn. That was like us last year when we moved in with with our inlaws with dog in tow and that was only for a week...
One thing that could be worth looking into is doggy day care places - your son's dog could go there every day and leave you with your normal routine. The one my dog goes to is open 7.30am-6.30pm.
DNMS - hope the migraine has passed now.You are committed to the small things cause - posting when you can hardly see!
Nice one on the tax return!!

Fantastic news on the tax rebate, DNMS!
I'm back at work today and brought breakfast and lunch with me.
Remind DH to look for courgettes on his travels, if not I will time a visit to the small T at YS time and hope the courgette spaghetti is reduced. I looked in last night and there was still none but did manage quite a haul of other stuff:
Feta and tomato pasta 25p
2 x Hoisin duck wraps 25p each
Pizza Xpress margarita 20p
Chilli houmous 20p
Salsa 20p
They also had a glut of plums at 8p per pack but none of the barcodes were working so I abandoned them. I need to look up how to cook plums for crumble as they always seem to have loads.
An unwanted Xmas present sold on eBay last night, I feel a bit mean but I'd rather have a couple of quid than something I'll never use.
I've photographed the clothes I want to sell on eBay, just need to list them. I did decide to keep a couple of things, amazing how stuffing them in a bin liner for a few months makes them feel like a whole new wardrobe! My mum has altered an annoying neckline on one of them and the other I'm wearing today
I will attempt to submit my tax return again tonight, fingers crossed x

Hi all,
A bit late to the party but had a friend round for coffee and have managed a NSD (2nd in a row) so all good.
Today I need to sit down with my finances and make sure I am clear about what is what. I think I will just note in my diary for now when I use from savings account for the yearly budget stuff and then try to work out how to use the spreadsheet on my laptop...its been an awfully long time but mr G@@gle is usually a huge help with this kind of thing. Thanks all for suggestions - I can't justify purchasing software atm but will keep in mind for the future.
Breakfast and lunch at home and dinner will be from meal plan.
I am warming up to declutter mode and thinking I need to look at eb@y again as well as sites for selling books...tons of books so some of them should be worth the trouble. Also have a few higher value items that could go if I can work out where best to sell them.
Psychologically this budgeting thing is like a roller coaster. I feel overall better to know exactly what I can spend etc, doing it and staying on target is a challenge and the knowledge it isn't going away anytime soon is depressing. Sorry to moan - on the whole I am optimistic and I know I am lucky - I have a secure home, food on the table, a car, happy DD and healthcare is free...more than a lot of people. It's the guilt I have that is hard - I feel like such a bad mother for DD to live with such a budget even though she is unaware and she does a lot of activities, has plenty of toys, clothes and her dad takes her abroad etc.
My income will improve in April by £150 so if I can work with my current budget then at least that will feel less tight and more money on the cc plus some money for a little break I decided on for the summer...DD is so excited and it is costing very little as have researched it to the finest of details.Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
