I am so pleased that it's Friday today. It's been another tough week at work. I'm coming on to write myself a tiny to-do list for the day because I know I'm way more likely to get stuff done if I write it down on here and hold myself accountable.
I need to:
check banking and PAD if I can find one from somewhere...
do the daily housework jobs
mark a set of books (ideally 2)
get some exercise done
aim for a nsd (shouldn't be difficult as I'm skint)
start on a mammoth pile of washing
arrange a meeting with the Head to discuss a couple of things
send a now-urgent email
I'm starting to develop an annoying jobs list again through my own laziness so must make myself get stuff done. Particularly as the weekend is looking pretty quiet (touch wood) and I would love to have some time doing nothing and not being exhausted...
Ally - fantastic news on the car insurance
FvD - I can't believe Mr Grabby Man. I'm actually shocked that someone would behave like that :eek:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

* Clothes airer has become a huge heap of scrap metal, it's been repaired so many times that it's all repair and no airer and is now doing a leaning tower of Pisa impression. I think we may need to source a new one so I'll go and look for one in town this morning. The thing is I like the look of the fancy one on wheels...but are the wheels worth an extra £10? Or am I just being decadent?YORKSHIRELASS wrote: »Morning Ally - only the people on this thread could talk about the decadence of an airer with wheels - but I know exactly what you mean!

Hi everyone :wave:
We are an early bunch this morning. I woke up with the alarm which is a rare occurrence for me as usually up before it... This morning I stayed in bed until 6.30am and I went to bed at 8.30pm! Wow, don't I feel rested?! :rotfl:
FVD - how frustrating about the grabby man!! :mad:
Yorkshirelass - I hope it works out ok with your son - I guess he didn't want to say anything to you because he didn't want to make you feel bad, but didn't think you'd then hear it from someone else... :kisses3:
Ally - go for the posh airer! It will brighten your life every day :rotfl:
Here's me:

Morning Money Savers
So I'm at home today, I've got some work to finish off, but otherwise MS stuff today:
- try not to put the heating/fire on even though its minus 2 this morning, currently wrapped in a blanket
- check bank accounts. Need to contact Barclays and see whether I can postpone my Blue Rewards as you need 2 DD's set up and these won't be sorted until March. Need too contact company today as DD change didn't go through.
- Field Agent MR app has changed ownership. I had £11/12 to cash out and this has now disappeared! So will contact them today.
- Book either Premier Inn/Holiday Inn for when we visit family in a couple of weeks. Need to work out which is cheapest and if I can get cashback.
- FPL
- check through emails and enter comps - done 2 on facebook so far
- check Aldi super 6 and write shopping list
I think that's all for today, LP xCompetition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -

Parents evening last night and discussions with DS2 about what he wants to do post-16. Turns out he would quite like to go to the big college 25 miles away (we live very rurally) rather than the local sixth form, which doesnt have the best reputation. He hasnt said this to us because he thinks the travel would be too expensive, £30 a week if he is there every day, plus food. Lots to think about. £30 a week would be a stretch - we pay £10 a week at the moment for school but I am a bit disappointed that he dismissed this idea without saying anything to us.
Anyway other than that DS1 to hospital today for his eight weekly treatment so I will have to leave work early, need some food shopping but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Washing put over the airer in my office last night - it can stay there for now.
Fajitas for tea, must go and take chicken out of the freezer!
Have a good Friday everyone x
Hi Yorkshire
There used to be a scheme where children were paid for staying in education post 16, is that not a thing anymore? I'm assuming it would have been brought up if so.
When I went to college, as my school didn't have a 6th form so it was expected you would go to college, there was a free bus provided once a day each direction. Admittedly we were in a town but the mileage was the same as you mentioned. Does no bus scheme run from any of the local towns?
Also might not be an option but could he get a part time job to help with costs?
I just had a quick Google and came up with these

Morning all,
Today's list
* Leftover American pancakes for breakfast with the kids
* Wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash
* Have a coffee using the end of the milk that ds2 didn't drink this morning - hate waste
* Iron dh's shirts ready for next week
* Check banking/update spreadsheets
* Check fpl
* Check luckyphone/numberplate lotto
* Check tcb/quico
* Make a chicken curry for tonight
* No heating on until everyone is home, plenty of fleeces etc
* Clean everywhere using stardrops
* Pizza Friday for the kids, so ys pizza out of the freezer and will chop up the last of the cucumber & pepper & tomatoes
That's about it, not very interesting but keeps me on track
** Been to the library to collect reserved books, whilst there I picked up some recycling bags as they always come in handy.
** Called in at the co0p and get some ys quiches for 59p and 2 toffee and ginger puddings reduced from £2.99 to 69p! I also had a coupon for 50p of a dessert so for both of them it cost me 88p! These are freezeable so will freeze them and use them for a Sunday lunch dessert at some point
** Sent hubby some emails from MrT with clubcard tokens on, he can print them and save our ink
** Going for a trip into the City tomorrow so gathering up coupons etc to make the most of it.
** Tidied presents box to remind myself what we have
** Put some of ds1's clothes away in storage for ds2 and pulled some of the items out of storage ready for ds2 to try on
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
