How many emails are people getting from BT when they phone up to cancel. I've got one for bt sport/tv ending at the moment. nothing about phone/broadband on notice for 30 days or whatever they call it.
Just want to make sure they have done what they say, and don't try to tell me I only asked to cancel sport and tv, they have form, illustrated well by comments on here!

Am 3 months into a 24 month contract for line rental (not paid upfront) and unlimited broadband. Decided to switch to another provider and rang BT to check there would be no termination fee, which they confirmed. Placed my order with Talk Talk and get up this morning to find 2 emails from BT quoting termination fees.
Now for the confusing bit: Rang them up and again sought confirmation that termination fee would be waived due to Ofcom price rise clause. They told me that they would waive the termination fee for my broadband but NOT for my line rental as this price has not gone up.
Is this correct? Any comments anyone?
By the way, I work from home and am on a small business tariff if that makes any difference.

Same as you, given BT 30 days notice is NOT cancelling the contract, so no email received as of yet.
BT waiting for new provider to take over from them.

Really struggling to find suitable option here as BT only offer me 18 months contract for infinity 2 (which I don't really need), but say this is their 'cheapest (ha ha!!) option'. Was after a 12 months deal, but been told 'not available'.

Would anybody have any feedback for Now tv as I could use this short term just to get away from BT?

    Any feedback welcome.

    Ta.

SMB tariff you would need to read your terms and conditions .
It is correct line rental has not gone up for retail customers .As you are in contract for line rental then different T&C probably apply .

Is anyone else still waiting for a price-rise letter or email from BT?

Agree line rental has not gone up. Call charges (p/min) and call "connection" fee (p/call) have both increased, but assume this itself does not trigger penalty free exit under the Ofcom regs?

For the great unwashed British public it does as they're treated as one package however commercial sales may be different. Have you not had an initial email or letter, any small print if so?

For anyone with BT mobile sim's and is cancelling their broadband/phone because of the price rises.
It would appear from the info in the link above that BT should continue to give you the £5 discount till the end of the 12 month sim contract, even if you no longer have your broadband/phone with them.

They will probably send you an email and text saying they will charge you termination fees after agreeing to let you leave, That's what happened to me but they told me that was a mistake.

Did you end up being charged? I was told on phone (aswell as twitter) last Sunday that I wouldn't be charged after I'd received an email saying I would, only to get a text this morning again saying I'll be charged £304 for leaving early.

Selski99 i'm in same position, BT are a joke, put things in writing only to verbally say they won't take what their written communications say they will.

I fully expect that the written communication is fully linked to their billing systems and as such I anticipate they will take the charges. I did a web chat to back up the phone call (should be recorded) and printed the web chat with the confirmation they won't charge.

I would cancel the direct debit if I felt it would not backfire and cause me bigger problems such as being in breach of my contract, credit defaults etc.

Time will tell if I get charged and if I do, a call for a refund will follow, raise a complaint if necessary, reach deadlock and off to OFCOM. Happy days are here again. According to BT they are the biggest provider and as such I should expect more errors, simples

Post 226 above might help if there's a problem, though I doubt there will be in the end. :)
