If you read the main article it clearly tells you.
Sadly you won't be able to get a partial refund on your BT package if you paid upfront for a year, eg if you bought the line rental saver package, and you now want to leave your contract
But you can still leave .0 -
As i understand it OFCOM rules say you can get ALR refund . Thats from posters on this forum who have done such .0

Sounds very promising. I've been searching and keep coming across people who haven't been able to get it refunded. Although surely it is classed as a penalty if you lose the money for the service you are not using because they broke the contract terms?
Do you have a link to the Ofcom rules that say this ?
Thanks0 -
Bit difficult to be sure how current this is .
but to me the key is withouth penalty and losing ALR has to be a penalty .
Under Ofcom’s rules (General Condition 9.6), if a communications provider wants to alter a contract’s terms and conditions, including raising prices, they must consider, among other things, whether the change will be of material detriment to their customers.
Communications providers must provide customers for whom a change is likely to be of material detriment with one month’s notice of the change.
At the same time, customers must also be informed that they are entitled to terminate their contract without penalty if the change is not acceptable to them.0 -

It feels like we're all funding their celebrity TV ads. :mad:Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.0

But if you look at the link I gave, it says £26 discounted to £12.50 for 12 months, it doesn't say it's £26 with £13.50 discount, a subtle difference. I'm sure it will say in t&c's but as yet not found it.
I'm obviously not very good at sporting subtle differences, but , usually when they state 'fixed for 12 months', they refer to the percentage discount being fixed and have a condition which states that prices could rise (though some providers say that this won't happen in your first * months).
Usually, if you have a 20% off deal, the increase applied will only be 80% of the full amount. (eg full price £50, £40 with discount; following a £2.50 rise the new price paid would be £40+ £2 )0 -
I wonder how long it will be before the other sheep erm I mean serious competitors put their prices up too. You have to ask questions about this market when prices go up when rules are brought in to force them to charge on price rather than using smoke and mirrors.
They've also been putting line rental up relentlessly for years despite the fact costs to them are going down...Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -

I was referring to getting a refund of advance line rental paid.
I have only ever read about BT Line Rental Saver ever being refunded in the case of a bereavement or a switch to certain tariffs see http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13962/~/bt-line-rental-saver-discount
Is my Line Rental Saver payment refundable?
No, unless you change your mind about wanting Line Rental Saver within 14 calendar days of paying. Or in exceptional circumstances such as a bereavement, or if you switch special tariffs BT Basic, Home Phone Saver or Line Rental Plus.
Before they stopped selling it ,it was Talk Talk who use to give you credit for any unused balance on your final account if you left them.
http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/value-line-rental-0
Will I get any refund if I cancel my Value Line Rental?
The one-off Value Line Rental charge is non-refundable, so if you decide to cancel it we won't be able to offer you a credit or refund for any unused value line rental.
However, if you're leaving TalkTalk, we'll apply a credit for any unused value line rental to your final bill. Please wait until you've received your bill before requesting a refund.0
