Sorry, this is probably really stupid & I should have mentioned it in the beginning, but I transferred the original phone number to my new phone so that I didn't have to contact everyone. Which is why the vodafone hasn't been in use (plus I didn't need it!)

The O2 sim works in another phone. I've taken up so much of your time so don't worry if you can't help.

the phone number is for the sim card - not the phone
if the o2 sim is working in other phones then it and the 6310i was def on voda originally then it is unlocked. sim reg failed is usually a sign of a barred phone.
phone the sevice provider and they will check for you. sometimes the worng phone can be blocked
