some of the later 1600's cant be unlocked by code, but it shouldnt harm the phone if you try 1 code

I am hoping that my son (11) will use this phone. If its going to cost £15 ish to have it unlocked would I be better getting a new phone for him for a similar price or would that phone be significantly inferior to this 7250i which is appx 5yrs old ?

you need to phone up customer services to get the PUK code for your sim card. this usually means you have entered the wrong pin 3 times or more
