Morning all,
Clf, a great save last night!
Dnms, I hope the zoo card turns up for you,
Bob/PF thank you, the kids have 1 friend each who come over usually and neither of them like pizza (I was caught out first time with both of them and ended up in Mcd's!) This is the first time this friend is coming over and I don't know the family. I've got meatballs/pasta leftover from yesterday so I can have that as a choice, in the freezer I have nuggets/waffles (left from when they had friends last week) and also pizza, so I will ask him what he wants I think. Thanks for the suggestions, I wouldn't have thought of giving them pasta. (so glad my two aren't picky eaters!)
YorkshireLass, cuddles in the morning, nice
I'm not in the best mood today, I always get anxious when the kids have friends over for some reasonOn top of that I've had a late fee/failed dd charge of £24 in the post this morning arrgghhhh its from a store card we'd not used in 18months, bought some trousers for dh on it as if we used the card we got an extra discount, thought the dd was still set up but its not gone out and so I've got these 2 £12 charges which have completely wiped out the discount benefit in the first place! :mad::mad: I don't remember deleting the dd off my banking but its not there so I must have :mad:
Right better get a list on and stop moaning
Todays list
* Kids to free breakfast club
* Gym done
* Get washing off the radiators and away
* Clean kitchen using stardrops
* Meals from stores
* Check banking/update spreadsheet
* Check fpl/lukcyphone/nubmerplate
* Hoover everywhere
* Make families lunches for tomorrow
* Iron only whats neededEverything else just hung straight away
* Shower, leave hair to dry naturally and continue using up lotions and potions
Not much there!

just spoke to the wildlife place and they will replace for a £2 feeworth it as they cost £34 for a year pass, single entrance is £14 and we go at least 10 x py

Is the charge from the bank? Is it worth giving them a call? Sometimes they will waive charges like this if it's the first time.
Although surely if you cancelled the direct debit, the bank shouldn't allow the store card to try and collect? I thought that direct debits are in the control of the account holder?

1LuckyLady wrote: »Thank you for that Dnms, I have just rung them and they have removed the charges and the interest. Apparently it was because I'd not used the card for so long the dd had been cancelled by the bank so it wasn't something i'd done anyway! They've reinstated the direct debit instruction on my account and I've put a little note in my statements box so that if its a long time before we use it again I will check about the dd first
Thanks again, I wouldn't have rung them if you hadn't suggested it
Great news about the wildlife card too

Hi Wednesday Penny Wranglers,
Just got me bum in a chair long enough to eat a sandwich. Today's frugal activity:
*mr f went to work on the bus as had old ticket with 2 trips left on it. Saved us 52 miles of diesel.
*Paid a cheque in.
*Dropped off 2 bags at charity shop. Was nearly tempted by a nice tunic but it didn't look as though it would quite be up to the job of containing the ample foxgloves boobs. £5.99 saved.
*Bacon, mushrooms, bread rolls & YS coleslaw bought using Co-op dividend points, so no cash outlay there.
*Bought a lb of stewing lamb from village butcher as need a slow cooker dinner on Sun. I do like these cheap cuts in the SC during winter.
*Popped in village garden centre for some scotch bonnet seeds as I'll be sowing them at theend of next week. Saved postage as often get them online.
*Cooked 1st lot of marmalade oranges. Will be jamming them this afternoon. Prepped 2nd lot, which will be cooked & jammed tomorrow.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch
*Make 2 pasta bakes, 1 for tonight & 1 for the freezer as a 'free' meal another week.
*Checked my crate of home grown stored apples to check they are keeping ok. Very nice & juicy. No need to buy apples for a while if they are all like that.
*Knit sock. I need to get this current one as near to finished as possible tonight, then I just have one more & the 4 pairs are finished.
Off to chuck 4lbs of sugar into the marmalade pan now & away we go.
Take care all, on this greyer than grey drizzley day. Keep calm & keep savibg!

Feeling sorry for myself. Won't blather on about it because it really wont help but coming on here has made me feel better so thanks guys. I love your posts Foxgloves. I dont know why but reading about the practical, sensible way you go about moneysaving really helps me feel better about my own situation.
Anyway, lots of paid stuff to do, best get on!0
