What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 16/01

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Thanks for starting DNMS - nice one with the fiver Bob
Have already been to Drs to pick up copy of sick note which has not arrived at work :eek: . Have scanned & e-mailed in & also taken copy - once bitten twice shy & all that - have not posted original in yet as am back for a review tomorrow & will either be back @ work by the end of the week or will have a wellbeing review scheduled in. (Black dog issues - I'm fine in the house not speaking to anyone - people & outside seem to be the problem)
Anyway - today's other (small) plans
Tidy house
Wee bit of washing & ironing
Not a NSD as DH kindly took milk delivered this morning to work - hence no milk in the house now (roll eyes smiley)
Take dogs for a walk
Look through paperwork basket & ditch / rehome what I can
Print off a couple of things needed
And that - sadly - will be enough. I saw every hour on the clock last night so fully expect to have to have a wee nap at some point today.....
Have a good day y'all

Morning all,
Thanks Dnms for the start.
Bob, what a fab start to the week
I'm battening down the hatches this week, want to keep my purse firmly shut for as long as possible. We had a food delivery yesterday, I have fuel in my car, (hubby will need fuel but I don't include him in this plan anyway) the kids swimming is paid for the only thing I that will need buying is maybe fruit but will see how long I can go before needing the shop.
Todays list
* Kids to breakfast club for free
* Been to the gym, spent 35 mins on the treadmill, charged my phone whilst there and used the wifi to watch EastEnders on catcup. I need to go every weekday til the end of the month as then my monthly fee will work out to be £1.06 a visit. (When I go for the whole month as usual its 79p/day based on 20 visits)
* Checked mileage and recorded on my spreadsheet
* Going to attempt a fast day, I've put all the chocolates & crisps bought at the weekend in the boot of dh's car, I've chopped up the last of the panettone and put it into individual bags to go into the kids packed lunches for the week.
* Meal tonight - kids having yesterdays leftover turkey curry.We will have garlic mushroom chicken that I took out of the freezer last night. Will serve with jacket spud & veggies (these need prepping ) will also get a peppercorn sauce sachet out of the useup box to go with it.
* Wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash
* Strip our bedand change
* Hoover everywhere
* Make sandwiches for families lunches tomorrow
* Check banking/update spreadsheet
* Check fpl/luckyphone/numberphone
* Search on inbox£
* Surveys if available
* Dejunk all 3 email accounts
* Find the superglue to fix our coffee canister
* Do a meal plan for the week (and try to stick with it!)
* Make a sauce to go with meatballs, so that we have a quick tea planned for tomorrow night after kids have swimming lessons (might not get this done today but will try )
* Update calendar with the school info that has come home with the kids
Hope everyone has a good week. I'm choosing to be happy
** Updated freezer list
** Cut open two hotel shampoo bottles and added them to our open bottle
** Cut open the mouthwash bottle to get the last out of it
** Desk cleared and receipts filed away
** Took hm soup out of the freezer that we didn't enjoy, going to add in potatoes, chicken, tinned tomatoes and spice mix from use up box and do a slow cooker curry. Hoping the soup sauce base tastes better this way! Will slowcook this tomorrow once the chicken has defrosted and this will be our meal for Wednesday night

Morning Campers,
Huge task list this week, as have so much catching up to do from being laid up with 2 weeks of flu. Have had a good night's sleep....didn't wake up until 5.15 & that's good for me, & have made a good start on clearing jobs. Today's money saving bits of the list are:
*Do mid-month budget check-in. All looking OK till pay-day. Balance seemed slightly higher than expected, which was a surprise as it's usually slightly lower at this point. Discovered that our monthly Energy direct debit payment had reduced a month earlier than I was expecting it to, so that was £28 extra in our account.
*Did 2 supermarket feedback prize draws. Does anyone ever win these? I think it's high time that I did.....although my comments are sometimes a bit on the ascerbic side if the state of the store's toilets is a bit yeuuchhhh.
*Entered a competition.
*Emailed an organisation to find out time of a meeting I need to go to soon. If mr f & I can organise who is having the car that day, we will save bus fares, parking fees or both.
*Laundry on heated airer. Washer loaded & will be put on timer for another cheap load on overnight tariff tonight.
*Knit sock order like mad. I have 23/4 socks to go. If I can get them finished by Sunday morning, then I can give them to someone to deliver by hand. Otherwise the p&p costs eat into my hard-earned profit or I have to wait till I can deliver them myself & that will mean a long wait till I see the money. DVDs & cafetiere lined up for knitting marathons this week.
*Financial admin & filing cleared.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Pack up nice plant for mr f's office. His last one died & he was quite cut up about it, lol! Pointless buying a new one in his lunch hour when I have several at home that might like to go & live in a warm office in the north of the county.
*Wrap nephews' birthday gifts. I have plenty of recycled wrappings & decent gift bags in my stash so will use those. Seeing them next weekend, so this will avoid postage costs.
*Cancelled direct debit to Breakdown Cover. Will phone them this morning to say I am not renewing our policy this year, as I checked the paperwork/notes from when we bought our new car back in Aug & I have definitely made a note that as it was a Sept 2015 registered vehicle, we are covered by Skoda Breakdown for another 2 years. My note actually said 'No need to purchase cover until 1.9.2018' so no point in being over-insured. £71 saved.
OK, I think I need a caffiene top-up. No snack though. Back on the diet to try & chip away at the 2 stones I regained of the 6 stones I lost between 2011 & 2013. I'd like to be a bit less chunky for the surgery I am expecting to be booked in for this year. Our diet plan has 2 light days a week with 800 calories then I have 1500 on the remaining 5 days. I can eat really well on 1500 with a few little treats too, but on the 800 days (& I'm aware this isn't nearly as low as these 5:2 fasting diets), I need to keep busy to stop me from being a Naughty Nibbler. That old saying 'Little pickers wear big knickers' could have been written for me!'
Have a good start to the week, all......Bob - you already have with your roadkill.

ClootiesMum - Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. I've never suffered from depression, but I did have a year or two of mental health issues a long time ago, when I had anxiety (it arose from another health problem). I'd never had it before & it made everyday stuff very difficult, especially going to work. I started to become agraphobic for a while, finding it very difficult to leave the house on my own. It did right itself & I am ok 99% of the time now, but I thought I'd just say how difficult it is, so hang on in there & treat yourself with kindness.
