I do that... it takes hours to find something nice, then you've no time - and don't have the ingredients either ... so beans on toast it is. :)

Not really ... pretty poor - you're supposed to eat from all the food groups and I see no sweeties mentioned at all!

    :)
There is sugar in the ketchup does that not count LOL :)

Not as much as a fat slice of apple pie, or a packet of biscuits would :)

I had a lovely apple pie the other month. Biggun it was. Proper deep apple pie.... Bramley apples. It was lovely. I do like a good, proper, deep, old-fashioned, double-crusted, apple pie :)

I had it four times as it was a full-sized one, so had to be cut into four and three parts frozen :)

In the dim past, back to those "bottom drawer" days, I collected some recipe books, including the little booklets you used to be able to send off for from people like the British Eggs Association or the Potato Society etc ...

Binned the lot when I had a huge clear out and got rid of 99.9% of all my possessions as I had nothing of value and the cost of putting it all into storage, storing it, then getting it back out again at some random future date when I next had a home was going to be greater than the sum of the value of the tatty goods :)

Glad I did get rid of them all ... but, if I'd been able to keep them, that would've been nice to occasionally flick through them.

I also had a scrap book I binned, that had recipe clippings from as far back as one from Jackie magazine in the mid 1970s for a veggie scotch egg. Egg, potato, breadcrumbs .... 45 years, still never made one :)
I've got a few of these "the Potato Council" one springs to mind must have a dig about :) I have a "little red book" that I've since my early 20s full of recipes and cuttings taped in. Not used so much nowadays but still my "go to" for scaling recipes, traybakes, my great Aunt's Christmas cake recipe and some random notes copied from "Keith Floyd's American tour" on TV:eek: it only goes in the book if I've made it and although sticky and tatty I love to flick through as it brings back memories of how my the things I've cooked has changed through the years :D

    With custard I hope :D

Must say, I prefer apple crumble to apple pie.

When we were kids my mother used to make apple crumble. We used to have a competition to see who could find any apple in their crumble...

Oh no, has to be served with a very generous helping of cream, preferably double! :p

Still got this bug, so no cooking, other than heating up from the freezer, or a cheese omelette.
Was up half the night and after reading about the hot chocolate on here, reminded me that I had cocoa, so had two mugs.....oh it was good. Suspect that will be the drink of the night now, had totally forgotten I had any, and how good it was. Don't like hot chocolate, it's got sugar in it...yeugh!
Thought that I had a bit more energy this morning, and I'd taken the hoover for a walk, as not been done for over a week. A walk with the dog in the biting icy wind has put paid to that idea....am shattered again. :o Feel a cocoa moment coming on now.

Oh poor you, there are some right nasty bugs going round at the moment :( Why are you worrying about hoovering if you have a pooch anything like my it will be hairy again in an hour. (One of the other joys of living on your own is nobody sees your stoor:D) I too prefer cocoa to hot chocolate though do like a little sugar in it (and a slosh of brandy if its going;)).
I do need to do some housework today as friends coming round tonight so want the place to be semi-decent and not smell of elerly pooch:eek:

Awe thank you, am feeling sorry for myself, so that's cheered me up. You are so right about the dog hair, drives me daft. Should have gone with a beige/cream dog to go with the floor tiles, then it wouldn't be so obvious. :rotfl: Anyway, the hoover hasn't had a walk, and I don't care, will wait another day or so. Just been lying cosied up on the settee all day, other than the necessary walks with the mutt in icy cold wind and rain, deep joy!
I can't be doing with any kind of sweet drinks at all, other than Baileys, but that's more like pudding. :rotfl:

I find if I don't wear my specs my house looks immaculate :rotfl:I've a black dog and pale wooden floors not the best combination either:eek:
Glad to hear you're cosied up - best thing if you're poorly hope you are managing to get some comforting food sorted out I always like scrambled eggs with buttered toast if I'm feeling wabbit - so easy but so tasty. I've got broth for my lunch will send you a virtual mug:)

Thank you, much appreciated for the virtual broth. I have been having bowls of soup, scrambled eggs and omelettes, although have run out of freezer soup now. Still plenty of spag bol, bean casserole and dhal in there though, so I won't have to cook unless I want to. I have run out of bread though, so got some on the go in the bread maker at the moment. Might throw some frozen veggies, lentils and stock in a pot to make more soup later, if I can be bothered. Always feel that soup is the thing if I'm not feeling well.

I've got a black dog too, and it's continuous moulting all year round. I keep threatening to put her into some kind of a doggie onesie, if you can get such a thing, to save dog hair all over the place. (You probably can, I'm not looking, just threatening her, as if she understands my gibbering. :rotfl:)
