When we were kids mum wasn't that great at pastry - and it's an extra step as you have to make a mess and roll it out, then clear up that mess... so it was most usually crumble in our house.
.
My mum's pastry was atrocious, hence why we always had crumble of some description. You were never sure as you could rarely find the fruit'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

I buy the packets of crumble mix in supermarkets because one bag does for 1-2 years ... and all you do is tip out the exact amount you need, the moment you fancy it.
Today .... it was pie in a tin day
I couldn't wait for it to finish cooking though, so served it up about 5 minutes short of its optimum cooking time....
1-2 years? do you freeze it. I like to make my own, make up a batch and freeze it.Slimming World at target0 -
Hope you enjoyed the pie in a tin PN ...its on the list for me when I am allowed to go shopping again
Lunch out ended up as chippy meal back at my parents house ...chips curry sauce bread and butter for meAlso got a huge box of 2 bite fudge brownies from Costco reduced from 9.99 to 1.97 due to the best before date. Slit them with my folks so I have some nice little sweet treats to snaffle tonight.
Wont need a main meal now but no doubt will be snacking as you do.
Have a nice Friday everyone0 -

Yes, I don't eat a lot of dessert, to be honest ... so it's rarely done.
You can't freeze everything, it clutters up the freezer if you're not getting through it as fast as you're freezing new stuff
And I hate the way it's mucky to make and you end up with margarine under your finger nails (which is gross) .....
A packet mix is fine. Sprinkle as much as you want, reseal the packet .... and it goes in the cupboard.0 -

I just nuked the 2nd half to get rid of it .... it's not great nuked, but it's gone now.Lunch out ended up as chippy meal back at my parents house ...chips curry sauce bread and butter for meAlso got a huge box of 2 bite fudge brownies from Costco reduced from 9.99 to 1.97 due to the best before date. You've had your main meal, it's not that you don't need one - you had it!

I just make my own crumble as and when - it's easy to do and you don't need to get your hands mucky. Use one of these:

Just put the butter, flour and sugar in a bowl and cut through the mix until it resembles breadcrumbs - far less messy.:hello:0 -

I just blitz the flour and butter in food processor and then stir in the sugar, job done in a couple of minutes. Also make pastry the same way.Slimming World at target0 -
Or - you could use oil instead of butter in crumble topping. Rather less messy and a quicker/easier job to make it.0

Oh the joys of 'Cooking For One'!
I have no idea what I want to eat and even if I did, I CBA to cook....sometimes, just sometimes, it would be nice to have someone else decide and cook dinner, even wash up too
Not eaten yet today. had numerous cups of coffee and tea but no food yet.
Decisions, decisions......:undecided 'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
