    Quick question if I may.

Would you eat an egg 30 days past it's date?

put it in a jug of water ...if it floats I wouldnt use it if it sinks I would

either that or just crack it and smell it but generally my eggs are way way older than the best before day so Im sure you will be fine :)

Probably yes, I would first do the water test, if it floats its off. If it sinks then I would crack it into an old yoghurt pot, if it smells OK, i.e. not stink the place out as a bad egg would, then yes I would eat it.

I got hungry ... opened a 15p tin of creamed rice, poured half into a jug... nuked. Lobbed in a big spoon of 30p/jar jam ... nuked for 20 more seconds. Eating from the jug with a teaspoon :)

I love chips and curry sauce from the chippy (as shown today)

One of my guilty pleasures is HM crinkle cut chips with curry sauce using Bisto curry granules and mushy peas on the side. Those Bisto granules are lovely and you only need to do as much or as little as you fancy.
I got one of those, about 4 years ago, brand new, in the box, £2. I thought "that looks like something I might use one day to not touch the pastry". Not used it :)

The thing is ... I would only be wishing to make about 4 tablespoons of crumble topping. There's just me... I'm tiny. :)

I could actually do it with a fork.

What those who like cooking, who have a nice kitchen, who have gadgets, who have ingredients... forget is .... some of us have no interest in it whatsoever..... CBA. What's the point. No interest. Not THAT interested in the food these days either....

    Crisps are nice.

See you *have* got the means to make a crumble without getting butter in your nails :p.

Having the ingredients / components in the cupboard means a person can make what they fancy and not just be dictated by what ready meal / pre-prepared stuff they have.

Mixing a crumble is minutes - not really any slower than using a packet mix plus you just measure the ingredients according to your appetite.

Same with making pasta, rice, bread etc.

Isn't that what 'Old Style Moneysaving' is all about? Getting ideas for cooking (not just re-heating :D) for one? :T
