Oh the joys of 'Cooking For One'! ;)

I have no idea what I want to eat and even if I did, I CBA to cook....sometimes, just sometimes, it would be nice to have someone else decide and cook dinner, even wash up too

Not eaten yet today. had numerous cups of coffee and tea but no food yet.

    Decisions, decisions......:undecided

Takeaway? sometimes you just need not to cook even when you live alone and it is Friday after all :):)

I just make my own crumble as and when - it's easy to do and you don't need to get your hands mucky. Use one of these:

    Link

Just put the butter, flour and sugar in a bowl and cut through the mix until it resembles breadcrumbs - far less messy.

I got one of those, about 4 years ago, brand new, in the box, £2. I thought "that looks like something I might use one day to not touch the pastry". Not used it :)

The thing is ... I would only be wishing to make about 4 tablespoons of crumble topping. There's just me... I'm tiny. :)

I could actually do it with a fork.

What those who like cooking, who have a nice kitchen, who have gadgets, who have ingredients... forget is .... some of us have no interest in it whatsoever..... CBA. What's the point. No interest. Not THAT interested in the food these days either....

    Crisps are nice.

That brings its own issues.... most places have a HUGE minimum order value, of , say, double your normal order. "Order something else and have it tomorrow" some say - most normal orders ARE carried over for a 2nd meal.... so, to have a takeaway delivered you have to have four dinners and overspend.

OR .... go out, in the cold/dark/wet, find a parking spot, trudge into the shop to collect.... pfft

OR ... continue to do nothing and stay in the warm, hungry.

    :)

Did you get out of bed the wrong side this morning PN ...you are grumping at everything said today :rotfl::rotfl:

I tend to go out and get my takeaways for the reasons you say though PN and can order just enough for one meal or usually to be fair plenty for 2 so that I can enjoy it twice :T Pizza is the exception where very occasionally I like one of the exorbitant priced Dominos delivered pizzas

Whats your favourite takeaway for one?

I love chips and curry sauce from the chippy (as shown today)
Also love hot and sour soup and a crispy duck from the chinese
    getting hungry again now

The third option is usually my go to...the expense always makes me think twice!

I thought twice, so beans on toast it is :o:D

    Quick question if I may.

Would you eat an egg 30 days past it's date?

Appreciate what you say, however this thread is titled Cooking for One and was started with a view to sharing ideas, swop tips etc and IMHO is successfully doing that, and is of interest and help to many of us.

I've given up with them over the years. Can't really afford to splash out £8 on them and they're disappointing... but, if one were GOOD, I'd choose an indian biryani, or a chinese sweet/sour chicken balls. Kebab meat's good too.

    I don't really eat out/often, last year I think there were 2 £5-6 pub meals and a £5 carvery.

    Yes if it sinks.

Eggs can't tell the date :)
