A friend who visited yesterday talked about the Mexican chilli soup she had made, which gave me an idea.
So tea was an OOD jar of Aldi's hot chilli sauce, with kidney beans and a brick pack of passata added to make a thick soup.
A "meat-free Monday" and very MSE. The hot chilli sauce was left over from when DS moved out, I'm not a hot chilli fan. My mouth is a wimp.

Thank goodness, I got myself back to food normal to me. I weighed myself yesterday, not done so in a while and have lost 2kg, just by changing my lifestyle eating. I treat myself, often and every afternoon

today, oats soaked all night in soya milk, added some nuts and dried cherries, then had a slice of spelt toast with butter and marmite. No mid morning snack as that toast was what I had planned, as were the grapes

Got to make a fridge bottom soup now, will be enough for three days and will be nice. I`ll just add some edamame pasta when re-heating, its pure gm free soya, so will give me protein. Got some goats cheese after that, on a rye cracker. Then some dark chocolate

later, berries and kefir and a few cacao nibs all in a smoothie and probably a piece of my hm frozen cake

At 5. probably aubergine and tomato pasta sauce from the freezer and some spelt pasta. That it my last food/snack for the day. I know I don`t eat after that so I don`t crave anything and if I do, then I`ll just suck a boiled sweet

Tbh, losing weight without trying, I eat like this for my health, is such a morale booster :D

    Morning oneskis.

Been AWOL as haven't had much to say for myself and very little CFO going on, just living off sandwiches :o

Last night though I cooked an asparagus, mushroom and cheese omelette, which sounds tasty but wasn't :(

Not sure what I did wrong but can't see me attempting any CFO in the near future as it was such a disappointment.

    Hope everyone is ok :)

    Morning everyone,

kittie well done on the weightloss always a boost if you are not particularly trying :D

karcher that's a shame about your omelette :( I really like asparagus but not in things IFYSWIM as I think the taste ends up overpowering the rest of the ingredients:cool:

It's still cold and windy and the rain clouds are gathering so another less than spring like day on the cards it would seem.

I woke really early not sure why and for once I can't blame elderly pooch ;) so consequently was hungry earlier than usual so I've just scoffed a toasted muffin with cottage cheese that will hopefully keep me going until lunch time. For lunch I think it's a day for soup so I'll defrost some later and I've a couple of chicken wings LO so that will do nicely with some fruit if I'm still hungry. Later I think I'll make mash as I've tatties that could do with being used so sausages and gravy with that will hit the spot:)

I'm trying to work out what I need food wise to cover the weekend. There will be four of us on Friday and Saturday and 12 on Sunday. I don't want to under cater but I don't to have loads to use up either! :)

pastures new, it is indeed to do with the freshness of the egg if it peels well or not. fresh eggs are not good to peel, older eggs are! atm we have on average 15 eggs a day from our girls so have to rotate well and friends/ family/ neighbours are well supplied with eggs!! so, in their good books! xx

Our hens are getting back into the full swing of laying as well

    Tips for peeling fresh eggs

Cool them fast under running water till cold all the way through. Then tap the big end. The air bubble will be there and that's where you can pop the membrane easily.

Another way is to boil the eggs with a spoonful of baking powder. Make sure they don't boil over though cos it makes a mess of the hob

caronc thats an impressive amount of catering you are planning for the weekend. What you got on the menu?

I have family here on Sunday but only 3 of us so not too bad. I am planning camembert garlic tiger bread to start then a large chicken and mushroom pie with some wedges and veg...nice and easy. Guess I should do something chocolaty for pud but none of us are that bothered so I think I will go with a family favourite apple crumble :D

In the meantime its back to cooking for one. Got some nice crusty rolls from Asda this morning so I am thinking of a cheese burger for dinner.

Karcher dont give up on cooking for yourself its inevitable that some things we produce will be horrible ..sounds so nice in your mind before you produce it then yuk :rotfl: on the other hand you have produced some lovely stuff too so stick at it :)

Thankfully my kids will be on hand to help. My elder son used to be a chef before deciding to become a Mathematician  and my younger son was a kitchen assistant while studying! I've a piece of brisket in a bbq rub that I'm going to sous vide then give a quick blast in the oven, I'll make a glazed ham, loads of salads and I'll make some bread so not much actual cooking when folk are here. My friend is making pudding :D It'll be complete mayhem between me and my walking frame, my Dad and his stick, elderly pooch and a three month old pup it will be chaos but in a good way -we don't really manage civilised dinner parties in my house.....:rotfl::rotfl:

For breakfast I had 2x toast, 2x scrambled eggs, ½ tin of beans.

Lunch I cooked the corned beef crispbake and served it with the mash I made yesterday (that I added some cheese to) and I made some chilli beans with the remaining half a can of beans.

That almost sounds like "normal people food" doesn't it!

    Happy Birthday Farway:bdaycake:

On a more summery note my first tomato seedlings have sprouted and I planted some bean and pea seeds (indoors) today :D.

    Thank you

What a difference a few hundred miles south makes, my beans are out & climbing the canes, the toms are ready for potting on in the conservatory, but the slugs wake up earlier as well

No breakfast again, getting to be a habit but no point if not hungry
Lunch was another CB salady baguette, obviously RFQS CB keeps just fine overnight

Tonight is the first whack at the M & S pork chop with sage butter and rosti spud, think I will chuck a tom & some mushrooms in the same tin in the oven, one pan cooking is my type if I can do it

Nothing inspiring on Lidl prowl this morning, but did get bag of small spuds for 29p on offer, last tiem I bought them they lasted for months as I do not use many, normally just scrub & boil in skins, but have been known to pop them in the Actifry for[STRIKE] gob[/STRIKE] bite sized chips
