Happy (belated) birthday Faraway.
I've been around but been bad. Going to work is basically all I'm able to do.
OH made me spicy vegetables last night using cauliflower rice (2 packs bought for 29p each), I'll be eating it for two more days lol. With a bit of caramelized onion houmous and rice cakes it's yum.
Not eaten anything yet today, just been drinking coffee so far. I have got coconut soya yogurt and fruit ready for when I get hungry.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Hi all bit of a first world problem but does anyone buy organic white and wholemeal flour from the regular supermarkets ?
Since the great craving for dumplings debacle a while ago I have been unable to find the above in either SBs or Morrisons .
Spelt and other types but not the usual basic ones .
Trips to Aldi are not regular as it is such a faff to get to and apart from a good Home and Bargains not where a range of shops would make the trip worthwhile .
Same with Atora Veg Suet .
By the time I track these items down we will be in a heatwave and however tempting dumplings will not be on the menu .
Caronc you don't do things by halves . That sounds a wonderful weekend in prospect , glad you've got help with it all .
I look forward to your posts when you recover .
Walking stick etc incidents included .

I believe that I got Doves Farm organic bread flour from Waitrose.0 -
I have a pack of Atora veg I've not opened....didn't realise there was a shortage. As you've mentioned you eat "organic" food ... that means you're loaded, so I'm prepared to post my box to you for the worthwhile cost of just £50 for the box.
I think I got mine from Home Bargains this time, but it's not something I think about or struggle to get .... cooking for one means I only ever use about a spoonful each time I make dumps0 -
Bit of an odd day here .... decided randomly to drag something outside and take a photo, then attempt to make a sale on Facebook for the first time ever... and it worked, item sold! OMG.... I've been looking at that item for over a year thinking "Can't use that, sell it".
I also went to £land for an item ... and walked out with an additional roll of draught stuff for a window .... and a micro-fibre-bobbly-looking-mitt-type thing .... which I will shove on the end of the hoover pipe to more easily wipe the laminate under the sofaUntil now I've been using a folded microfibre cloth jammed on the end of the pipe, which was good, but not as good as I imagine the mitt will be.
Tea was a celebratory nuked burger, shoved unceremoniously into an untoasted brioche (the last one) ... with a bit of cheese and some chilli ketchup I knocked up. Very tasty it was. Ooh - and a cheeky individual cheesecake (last one of three).0 -
Thank you for your reply Mr Singleton .
Sadly WR is usually a couple of times a year thing due to the distance involved .
I don't order online so a little stumped at the moment . I may have to go into Holland and Barrett but in the past I've had a few problems with buying flour there as turnover is often slow and we have the dreaded weevils in the flour scenario .
I've just spotted the post above mine from doomandgloom I've been wondering how you are . Sorry to hear you aren't so well .
That meal sounds lovely , I could just eat it myself if someone would present it to me , no energy today . I love all things cauliflower including cauli rice .
Take care x

PN Thank you for your generous offer
I ain't rich or even "well off " just an ageing child of the 60s who went the wholefood route with a lot of help from the Cranks original cookbook in the early 80s .
You can still buy organic by wise choices re your whole shopping lists Lees likely for those on the breadline but on a modest income can be done .
You sound to have had a good day . Well done on your sale . That's a really good idea re the mitt and the hoover .
Thanks for pointing me to HB that's my nearer option .
A word of advice Do not open the suet ! In a shtf scenario it could be worth thousands to the desperate . Just not me £50 is way beyond my means and I think you may have more chance on the online selling sites where people pay large sums for a kilner jar of Yorkshire air - I kid you not .
Old stylers would never be taken in . If we weren't so honest and upright it would be tempting to run around catching air in a jar to sell or even leaving jars outside to catch it for us .
Lovely sea air here straight off the Irish sea :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The spicy vegetables is really good. Added a half portion of sweetcorn and peas to todays one.
Odd about the flour. I'm sure the supermarkets in our area still have the organic. Will look tomorrow to make sure.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Evening all,
pollyanna - Tesco do own brand organic flour (white) in plain, SR and bread. They also sell Atora veg suet.
PN- sounds like a productive and profitable day
Farway - hope you enjoyed your chop
Doomand gloom- lovely to see you back, I hope things pick up a bit for you soon
A load of potatoes are currently in the pressure cooker for mash and a couple of bangers and some carmelised onions are defrosted. I always batch cook mash as I like to make it with a potato ricer and it's a faff doing small amounts ;)It's still blooming cold here so a good dinner for a chilly night.
My menu for the weekend is more or less planned and shopping ordered so my wallet is much lighter....... Of course it will end up changing as my boys' dad is being his usual vague self re them getting together. I'll just smile sweetly and keep well out of it but one of these days the boys are going to end up not seeing him when they are home as they will have made other plans to see mates. I'm sure that's not what he wants but he can't seem to get that they are not wee anymore and won't necessarily drop everything at the last moment. Anyway rant over........0 -
Today was an unusual day off with nothing planned, so I did some errands and hit the supermarkets. Got some RTC bargains and spent the afternoon cooking so the freezer is stuffed with homemade ready meals. It's easier than buying fresh all the time and cooking every day.
Into the freezer went:
Chicken dinner (roast chicken, 1/2 baked potato, roasted veg) x 4
Spaghetti bolognese x 3
Burritos x 8
Soy and ginger glazed pork with stir fried veg x 2
Singapore noodles x 1
Cheese and ham pizza x 2
There's a piece of roast pork too that I haven't decided what to do with as yet.
Tonight I had the remains of the roast chicken, green beans and new potatoes (RTC micro bag with herbed butter). Lunch was a coffee and some yogurt, breakfast toast with cottage cheese.0
