I must admit I thought similarly, but stayed quiet :)

Upon reading it a 2nd time it didn't look too bad ... there is one person on the boards who I have to always hold my tongue with ... my god that person can tuck it away .... and then indicates there's a diet going on! OMG.

One thing that amuses me is that we're used to professionally shot dinner photos these days... and so when we shoot photos of our own food (in a rush as we really want to eat it), it can look quite "dire". I've seen some very dire looking dinners on this site, but then I realise that not everybody's got the right lighting/plate/background sitting around with a photostylist to work on it all before we eat.

    Now your dinner photo's loaded .... that's a biggun missus! :)[/ QUOTE]

LOL PN I like bigguns. Seriously though its not possible to judge the size of the plate in a photo, mine are 9" diameter whereas a
normal one is 10.5", Ive seen them on Ebay at 12" and OMG you should see my SILs, absolute whoppers, ex catering ones. She piles it high right to the edges always has seconds and then pays a fiver a week to go to slimming world

    Nuke your own.
Very thin slices of spud (or veggies).
Bit of kitchen paper in the nuker.
Lay them out in a single layer on the paper.
Sprinkle with stuff/flavour if you wish. Or paint it on using oil as a carrier.
    Nuke/watch.
Turn when they look like they need it.
    Nuke/watch.
    Remove when they look edible.
    Eat.

You can get round disks with slots in to shove in the nuker ... no point getting one of those unless you realise that you can be bothered to make your own and you like the results.

The main method here is to keep the slices thin and separate, so they cook/dry out and don't stick together.
Thanks have made HM before but they're just not the same :( I'm a ready salted or Kettle Salt & Black Pepper kind of gal:D

HI caronc it's surprising how much salt there can be in things that you don't expect. An example that surprised me was oatcakes - they are still quite healthy in moderation but I'm not good at 'moderation'. I do like crisps, Walkers S and V though, the only problem I have is there just aren't enough crisps in a bag these days!
Yes it's scary - ready sliced bread is another culprit :(

I much prefer a smaller plate that looks full than a wider plate where I end up eating more. My ex used have a favourite huge plate that he liked filled mind you at 6ft 5inch and skinny he could get away with it but I remember flattening things like mash so they covered more area :rotfl:

I have some plates that are too big. I then bought some smallish bowls and for Xmas I bought a new plate so I could spread the dinner out and make it look like a dinner and not a dog's dinner :)

    Morning everyone - Happy Monday:)

I'm probably not cooking for one tonight as son returns from Prague for a quick overnight before heading back to Newcastle tomorrow. Suspect he may be a bit wabbit so going for the easy option of spag bol as already have the sauce in the feeezer:D
Lunch will be a use up of some sliced turkey and the last portion of coleslaw. I've roast veg LO from last night which I'll use up tomorrow but apart from that I've no real plans on the foodie front. Need to sort out a shop though as I'm getting low on fruit and veg and pooch supplies:eek:

I enjoyed yesterday's egg/soldiers so much I've had it again this morning :)

Used a crust as I only had two crusts. One crust to go.

Wet here and a bit cold. Don't really want to go out to the shops just to buy fruit to eat because somebody says I need to eat more of that. If I go out for fruit I'll return with sweeties.... surely it's healthier, therefore, to not go out to buy fruit :)

I might lob together a "fried rice" later - in the nuke box. That'll use up some of the hideous/cheap bag of mixed/cubed veggies I need to see the back of... although a few spoons from a 0.5Kg bag doesn't make much of a dent.

I would stay in. The recommendations will probably be 25 portions by the end of the week with no eggs no sugar and no fat. But then it will change by Monday next week.......

:rotfl::rotfl:I eat the amount of F&V that feels right for me, more sometimes less at others. Just had a healthish breakfast of baby plum tomatoes and mushrooms completely undone by the decent amount of butter on the toast but it was tasty :D
