I've found a method that works for me.

I have a stainless steel mixing bowl that has a similar capacity to the casserole dish I use for soups. As I peel and chop the veggies I place them in the bowl which then gives me a good idea of how much I'm prepping. That stops me from peeling and chopping too much.

I have an invisible line which I don't go above to take account of adding barley and dumplings.
Thank you must try that :D
I've nailed that one now. The "no effort, from start to finish in under 10 minutes" way to get it from raw veg to on the plate in a pile.
    Sorted.........:D

LW - hope the dizziness passes so horrible to deal with. Sounds asthough a bit of team work between you and Mr LW have things more than sorted;)
Thanks; I'm a lot better than I was this morning; Mr LW got the things out of the cupboards to save me bending or stretching, and he washed up as we went along (he always does this:A which means I don't have to go and tackle a huge mountain of dirty stuff, there's just the dinner plates, cutlery and whatever the food was actually cooked in to wash after.) And today he did the post-meal washing up too.:A
The good news is I managed to eat a portion of Toad. :T So I've actually consumed some food today.

Random question: I always have a slice of lemon in my tea as I dislike it with milk in, but just black tea on it's own is a bit boring. I habitually eat the lemon after I've drunk the tea. Does this count towards my F&V? :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Good to hear that :) I suppose re the lemon it depends how many cups a day LOL - you might manage two portions if you drink a lot of it........:rotfl:

It definitely counts towards it but I thinking would have to be cumulative to get a portion unless it's from the world's biggest lemon.

Good evening everyone...just thought I'd have a nose at what everyone's been eating the past couple of days. I'm a bit behind with posting so will put down what I remember from the past couple of days:
Friday - Breakfast - Weetabix and banana; Lunch - apple; Late afternoon - 4 (!!!) x large triple chocolate chip chewy cookies and 1 x ys almond croissant; Chicken broth/stew type thing with pearl barley....wine and cups of tea of course
Saturday - Brunch - 3 rashers bacon, 2 fried eggs, 1 tomato, 2 slices of ys toast. Snacks - apple, nuts, large bag Maltesers; Dinner - another apple and couple of prunes. Some wine and cups of tea. Didn't get round to cooking in the evening - wasn't really hungry maybe due to pigging out on goodies earlier and yesterday and also having a brunch.
Sunday - Porridge with banana and blueberries; lunch/early dinner combined (due to doing a dog walk that started in the morning and ended after lunch time) veggie chilli (toms, kidney beans, tom puree, onion, garlic, small carrot chopped, chilli powder, chilli fresh and brown rice) - lovely quick and easy to make, plus a yogurt, glass of wine and cups of tea....more chilli left over for tomorrow or Tuesday which I'll have with a jacket potato...no goodies today unfotunately!....

All sounds lovely though I'd trade the cookies for crisps:D, I love crisps but really need to limit them these days due to the salt.........:( I never had them that often but now they are on my "naughty" list I find I really crave them - do give sometimes and live with the consequences :o

    Nuke your own.
Very thin slices of spud (or veggies).
Bit of kitchen paper in the nuker.
Lay them out in a single layer on the paper.
Sprinkle with stuff/flavour if you wish. Or paint it on using oil as a carrier.
    Nuke/watch.
Turn when they look like they need it.
    Nuke/watch.
    Remove when they look edible.
    Eat.

You can get round disks with slots in to shove in the nuker ... no point getting one of those unless you realise that you can be bothered to make your own and you like the results.

The main method here is to keep the slices thin and separate, so they cook/dry out and don't stick together.

That's not very healthy - you'll damage your mental health if you don't get more chocolate/treats into your week :)

HI caronc it's surprising how much salt there can be in things that you don't expect. An example that surprised me was oatcakes - they are still quite healthy in moderation but I'm not good at 'moderation'. I do like crisps, Walkers S and V though, the only problem I have is there just aren't enough crisps in a bag these days!

:rotfl: The good thing about writing it down is that I can see my eating behaviour habits...because I eat healthy meals generally (looking at nutrition etc) I think I can treat myself but I struggle to do that in moderation. If I buy chocolate or cakes they are unlikely to last 24 hours..Yet I tell myself I have a healthy diet....need to rethink that one...
