Although I don't buy/cook/eat bacon as a rule, about 30 years ago I did have an actual bf...and when he stayed over I'd nuke bacon as part of a breakfast for him.
I have actually seen large tubs of "bacon bits", dried bits of bacon, to be added to recipes. I've seen them alongside herbs/spices in a place called Trago Mills, which is a discount warehouse... and I clocked them and thought "Ah, they look handy". That might be a way to go to knock up a quickie.

My DGD buys this as shes a veggie but to be honest I thought they were gross, don't taste like bacon at all . just look a bit like it,not suprising since they have been nowhere near a pig .Expensive bits of junk I think.Slimming World at target0 -

Well healthy boiled eggs morphed in to fried egg, black pudding and tomatoes - was tasty though and it is the weekend0

Look at it this way ........ tomatoes...
I had some fruit juice. I'd bought it at Xmas, never got round to drinking much of it, so froze it into lolly moulds... but my lolly moulds are "the wrong sort" so I wasn't eating the lollies - and they were cluttering up the freezer, so I took them out last night and let them defrost and just drank that. So 1/10 down, 9 to go.
I need to defrost the freezer at some point. Had it about 2½ years and this will be its first time...trouble is, that means that I first have to empty/eat most of what's in there to minimise what needs packing into cool bags while I defrost it.
It could be a couple of months in the thinking.0 -

Back to CBA mode. So today's lunch was (healthy) type crackers and hummus with tomatoes, then a satsuma and half a Chinese pear with Oatly creme fraiche and Oatly cream plus almonds and a bit of "Choc Sh*t" and sesame seeds over the top. Course 3 - a bit of toasted rye bread with yeast extract spread on top.
Well - a bit random, but at least it's all healthy.0 -
I plumped for using up the last of the carrots I'd bought 2-3 weeks ago, hurrah. And I emptied the bag of broccoli/cauli that'd been in the freezer for over 6 months, hurrah.
.... and THE PIE!
Portion 3/4 of the pie down. It's lovely - 3 days in a row and I still think it's lovely ... tempted to buy another when this one's finished
?/10 count so far today: 4/10.
I'll give it a rest there. I think I feel a drinking chocolate & mini marshmallows coming on for later
I did manage to get gravy down my front while eating ....such a nuisance. One of the carrots flew off the plate when I jabbed it at the wrong angle.0 -
Afternoon all, late clocking on due to fiddling around with a friends problem laptop, think I have finally got there so dinner is as planned and not CBA cheese roll
It was cheese salad bap for lunch though, Morrison's mooch this morning revealed 6 wholemeal grain large baps, YS down to 25p from a quid [4pm closing Sunday, had to go ASAP], should see me up to midweek at least
Tonight is now part of my M & S meal for 2, a sage crusted pork chop with apple & shallot butter, plus 2 x potato rosti cakes
With LO limp leek, bent broccolli and carrots, they should perk up after a spell in water, looking forward to it now
Veg count 6/10, but if I count in the chop butter that is 8/10 which is a bit of a cheat I admitGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
I really wouldn't want to be between 10 & 15 again was horrible
I think I may be channeling Caronc today; been horribly dizzy all day, and having to hold onto the door frames etc to get to the bathroom. Am typing this flat on my back on the sofa with the netbook propped up on a lap-tray.
Gods know how I shall do Mr LW some dins. He'd happily help himself to something, but I feel I've failed in my duty if I leave him to fend for himself. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
.... I feel I've failed in my duty if I leave him to fend for himself.
"in sickness and in health" - this is his bit now.
Your duty was to put up with him and not swan off with a toy boy - you've done that OK. So all duties performed... and you get to sit and relax while he performs his part of the commitment made0
