That is the cake of madness. No good will come of it.
Not worth the thought/effort. Really.
Or make 32 at a time and freeze them - though I know I'm luckier than you when it comes to freezer space.
One a day with my lunch at work would mean that's 6 weeks worth. I recon they'd defrost by lunchtime so I could just grab and go.
It's an option. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

LOL/32. I guess some people would fancy 32, I'm more of the type of person that likes things to vary more often.0 -

I couldn't do that, make 32 and freeze (no freezer space for a start) but I'd probably just scoff most of them in one sitting'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
IMHO the appeal of a simple microwave cake in a mug is that it is perfect for a quick cake fix for ONE with no LO and can be made as a when the urge takes and you 'fancy' cake
Now I know of them I will add it to my repertoire  for when I have a very rare craving for cake...with quantities adjustments, so perfect just for ONE'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

perfect just for ONE
Happy experimenting.
In a way, that's how they're marketed online these days by "trendy bloggers" as if they just discovered something entirely new... for the rest of us we've been making them in bowls for donkeys years.
In reality, for 99% of the time, a mug just simply doesn't cut it size wise.... although I do have a special large mug JUST for making these and perfect for whipping up a small Yorkshire pudding batter. But, most of the time, I do just use a jug as the handle's handy for gripping to do the mixing in the first instance.
Nobody's marking you on presentation when you live alone.0 -
Morning everyone
Hope you are feeling better Karcher?
Thankfully I don't really have a sweet tooth so seldom crave cake - but the mug recipes sound ideal for us onskis:cool:
I need to do something with chicken thighs and a piece of chorizio ago today but will decide later what need some more coffee and my am nap before I can think properly
What I can't come up with is how to make proper homemade soup in smaller quantities so it just makes one or two portions any suggestions?0 -
Not tried any of the cake in a mug recipes although I have recently discovered one pot apple crumble which I love. May have a go at a lemon drizzle mug cake I found on t'internet looks lush
Today though I think I will be making some pancakes :j Supermarket delivery coming at 2 with eggs and milk so plan is to make a few for later and some yorkshire puddings which is basically the same recipe
caronc I always make miles too much soup too so sorry cant help there although I do become very popular by gifting it to everyone i know rather than freeze 20 portions lol
Beef stir fry was nice last night but the beef was a bit chewy shame really as it was gorgeous when it went into the freezer. Beginning to think beef joints just dont freeze well which is annoying as I have a few in there atm.
Chewy Beef carrots, sprouts and leeks, peas roasties and yorkshires for dinner for me and some pancakes :j0 -

I've decided that, most of the time, it's better to just pick up some random/nice sounding cans of cheapish soup at a supermarket and be done with it, adding variety.... they become part of the "instant meals in a can" stash I keep topped up (this week that stash has 2 cans of beans/sausages and 1 can of meatballs in tomato sauce added to it).
To make a small portion you really need to be thinking about the microwave.
It depends really what you call a soup, how you make it, what you use, what you like ... as "soup" means so many hundreds of things.
I've generally decided, though, to not bother trying to make soup due to it not really being very exciting a lot of the time.0 -

Lol same here re soup though my dad & sister don't complain
Shame about the beef - is it already cooked? If so try a wee bit if it's not chewy I'd just fire some gravy on it rather than reheating, if it is might be worth giving it bit of a stew in stock/gravy:) That's where I do love my sous vide - makes any cut of beef so tender but do appreciate that's a very "cheffy" solution:cool:

... apple crumble ...
It's one of the reasons I've got lashings of instant custard perpetually in the cupboard.
Last week I had an ENTIRE can of peaches in a crumble
AND I added custard. That one was baked.

A while ago I knocked one up in the nuker box using fresh plums I had to use up.
I've got a selection of different tiny dishes to select from, mostly from the 99p shop/Poundland types of places.
In fact, I've NO larger dishes. I'd struggle to cook for more than one unless I used the slow cookerEverything in my house is tiny, for one, just me ... sized. I've only got one white plate that I eat from ...although I've got two bowls I eat regularly from too. I do have 4 matching plates that I don't use (they're too large)... and two small cereal bowls.
