I've no idea what my BMR is ... didn't even know it could be measured ... or maybe you went to a website/answered some questions and it told you...
All I know is ... I weigh 54Kg/120 lbs ... and am not keen to weigh much more than that ... but I LOVE pie.
I tend to roughly balance calories over time, not per day ... so I can have a blow out and not worry about it at all ... so long as I remain aware that I had a blow out and go easy a few times in the next week or so.0 -
Thanks for the calorie count PN..I best halve the quantity, I've done nothing but eat rubbish all day
Well apart from a banana and an orange which I thought would be good vitamin wise but the citrus didn't half hurt my throat
I have no idea what BMR is either?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
BMR is basically the amount of calories your body needs just to maintain it's vital organs while at rest. It differs for gender, height, weight and age. Even the amount of muscle you have effects BMR.
Basal Metabolic Rate is what it stands for. There are basic calculator online. Some as always are better than others.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -

I used http://www.diabetes.co.uk/bmr-calculator.html
It said:
"Your BMR is 1,197 calories a day"
Which is what I'd have guessed at. I "aim for" about 1000/day, knowing full well I'll go over that ... but I still think about it as I fly past it
I don't "stress" about calories, I'm just vaguely aware and vaguely mindful of them... over time.0 -
BMR results, Depending on my activity levels which varies week to week, I need between 2000 and 2200 per day.....trouble is I have absolutely no idea how many I eat.
I know I have days I eat lots but other days when I don't eat much at all, so I guess as long as my clothes aren't getting any tighter, I can't be too far off the mark?
Not going to concern myself with it though as I think the BMI calculations are pretty flawed imho.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Ah but did you times that by your 'activity' level?
Mine was 1300 before it took into account activity!'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

You best up that by making a few more microwave cakes:)

... making a few more ...
Well, I was planning on making more, with a lovely little lemon sauce I whip up ... but not now I know it's 1000.
While they're lovely, they're simply not worth wasting 1000 on. I'd rather have 3 lots of pie!
I'll divert the lovely lemon sauce (lowish calories) ... and the sultanas into a version of rice pudding, where the calorie count will be lower.
I guess I never bothered to work them out before because ... well, I weighed 40% more than I do now ... so 1000 here and there didn't make much difference.
Although today's was exceptional in that I've just changed from smaller eggs to large eggs. Previous ones I've made have always been with the little runt of the pack eggs from mixed packs.0 -
A 1000 for a small cake does seem a lot.
The recipe I posted said it served one which you said is double the size of yours. There's hardly anything to it so where do all the calories come from?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
