    Morning everyone
Hope you are feeling better Karcher?
Thankfully I don't really have a sweet tooth so seldom crave cake - but the mug recipes sound ideal for us onskis:cool:
I need to do something with chicken thighs and a piece of chorizio ago today but will decide later what need some more coffee and my am nap before I can think properly :D
What I can't come up with is how to make proper homemade soup in smaller quantities so it just makes one or two portions any suggestions?

I'm not unfortunately :(..hence being up half the night talking about mug cake :D

I don't have much of a sweet tooth and not a great fan of cake but very occasionally might crave something comforting with custard .

Soup..well I always make a big pan full but as it's all veggie and pulses so it keeps in the fridge for ages but rarely lasts more than 3 meals..
I also only like thick, blitzed soup so it makes a substantial main meal rather than just as a snack iyswim

Lol same here re soup though my dad & sister don't complain :D
Shame about the beef - is it already cooked? If so try a wee bit if it's not chewy I'd just fire some gravy on it rather than reheating, if it is might be worth giving it bit of a stew in stock/gravy:) That's where I do love my sous vide - makes any cut of beef so tender but do appreciate that's a very "cheffy" solution :o:cool:

yeah plan was to just put it in to some gravy to warm up but not recook so hopefully it wont be chewy but it has to be eaten anyway so hey ho

I've not actually eaten a single thing since SpongeFest.

Might do a jacket spud - the final one of the bag of 8 I bought what feels like a decade ago!

    Or I could do egg/soldiers. That's it I think. Egg/soldiers.

EDIT: My egg's on. Slice of bread from the freezer defrosted and sitting in the toaster to be turned on in a minute.

EDIT 2: And here it is, but I've already eaten it https://s18.postimg.org/49i1p63t5/My_Boiled_Egg_Soldiers.jpg

Glad I chose that, it really hit the spot :)

I've decided that, most of the time, it's better to just pick up some random/nice sounding cans of cheapish soup at a supermarket and be done with it, adding variety.... they become part of the "instant meals in a can" stash I keep topped up (this week that stash has 2 cans of beans/sausages and 1 can of meatballs in tomato sauce added to it).

To make a small portion you really need to be thinking about the microwave.

It depends really what you call a soup, how you make it, what you use, what you like ... as "soup" means so many hundreds of things.

I've generally decided, though, to not bother trying to make soup due to it not really being very exciting a lot of the time.
Thanks I like traditional broths and soups like lentil and bacon. I do use cans sometimes but need to watch the salt content:)

Well if it's chewy you'll burn more calories eating it so can have an extra yorkshire to compensate LOL :D

Had a grapefruit and a handful of m&ms for breakfast. Beef, potatoes, carrots and beetroot for dinner. I normally do the beetroot in the remoska with orange juice and sometimes honey as well. Only have apple juice at the moment so hopefully that works too.

The only cake I really do these days is a microwave suet sponge sometimes jam at the bottom sometimes syrup. 4oz flour, 2 each of suet and sugar, a dash of milk and an egg. Cook in big pyrex jug makes loads.

My philosophy with food is I can have whatever I want as long as I'm honest to myself and my trousers still fit.

What's the problem with the portion size of that then? If it's the thought of standing over the pan frying one half of a rasher of bacon ... then nuke it. Bacon nukes up a treat.

Although I don't buy/cook/eat bacon as a rule, about 30 years ago I did have an actual bf...and when he stayed over I'd nuke bacon as part of a breakfast for him.

I have actually seen large tubs of "bacon bits", dried bits of bacon, to be added to recipes. I've seen them alongside herbs/spices in a place called Trago Mills, which is a discount warehouse... and I clocked them and thought "Ah, they look handy". That might be a way to go to knock up a quickie.
