... method of cooking couscous is to put the couscous in suitable container and top up with boiling water and put a lid on it and just leave that few minutes until it's cooked.
Sorry to sound dim, but that's the only way I know to cook it! You mean there's another way? I'm not very experienced at it, having eaten it only about 20 times, but that's how I've done it EVERY time. Never had a clue there was another way...
Now I've been boiling water up in a saucepan on my cooker/throwing the couscous in/putting saucepan lid on and turning off the hotplate.
Ah, too much faff there! I saw a girl do that on Come Dine With Me the other week - thing was, she tipped it into a FULL saucepan, so, of course, it was just slop/soup.

    EDIT:
I just went to check a packet.... and this is what my packet from Mr Sainsbobs says:

    :)
Which will be why that's the way I've always done it ... although I don't always measure the water out, I just do it by eye, you can always add a bit more water ... if you start by just covering the couscous. I do it in a Pyrex jug, so sometimes I'll start by measuring the water, sometimes I'll toss the couscous in first - selecting my quantity just "by eye".

    Morning everyone,
Will be interesting to see how many folk have dumplings in the next week or so?:) Possibly me if I cba making a pot of mince to have with them :D

I may be joining in, my mince is solid in the freezer since Christmas, may drag the SC out of cupboard for it, when I was doing dumplings I found they were just fine [STRIKE]chucked[/STRIKE] placed on top in SC about hour before the end & left to plop away

Tonight is def frozen coated fish & oven chips, + nuked frozen peas

    Afternoon everyone

PN - glad you survived your hoops:)
moneyistooshorttomention - as they say every day's a school day :D I've always cooked by cous cous by adding boling water same with dried noodles, never thought about doing it in a pan. Did you know you can "cook it" by soaking in cold water overnight? I've never been organised enough to do it but my friend swears by it;)
Nelski - hope you enjoy your lunch out:)
Whoknowskt89 - could you not make spicy pasta bake and kill two birds with one stone ....
Willowx - bangers and mash lovely think I'm heading towards bangers, beans and oven chips here tonight
  • Hmmm....overnight couscous instead of overnight oats?

    Might be worth an experiment....

Don't like couscous at all...strange stuff if you ask me with no substance or *bite* iyswim.

    Afternoon all :D

Very long busy day for me and after a 4am start, I still haven't eaten and not really very hungry?

I have 2 ciabatta rolls left in the freezer so will probably have a couple of egg sandwiches later.

My cupboards are rather bare and lack anything of interest...my freezer just appears to have frozen veg, a pizza, 2 portions of dhal and some cheese in it..none of which inspires. Likewise the fridge is practically empty bar onions, garlic, eggs, milk and cans of diet coke/fanta (oh and wine ).

SM trip on the cards tomorrow as needs must... too knackered to go today.

ETA must buy potatoes or frozen chips as i really want a chip butty now :D

What an early start Karcher I'd be eating my own foot by now if I hadn't had anything to eat  What about a cheese and onion omelette with your rolls ?

Have to agree, I tried it for first time last year as "everyone" was raving over it, touch of emperor's clothes there I think, but never knock it until you've tried it, and 10 points if you know the rest of the quotation :)

Oh burger...I wish I'd read your post before putting some eggs on to hard boil, it's ages since I had an omelette... Never mind that can wait for another day :D

I think I'm over tired that's why I'm not hungry. I have been hungry during the day but not had a proper break so just didn't eat..also the slight issue of having no food with me. :p

I'll need to forfeit the points LOL.:o I really like cous cous provided it has lots of bits in it not keen on it just as a plain grain . It's really good used to stuff chicken mixed with dried fruit, chopped nuts, lots of lemon, garlic and chilli:)
