  • Hi all, recently parked on a main road (not car park) where the road is also an entrance into a building yard. It was evening about 7.30 pm, the building yard is locked shut behind me, i wasnt obstructing the route in or out should anyone have turned up. There was a parking sign behind me but I assumed it was for the building site, not the main road where I was parked.
Anyway I got one of the myparkingcharge.co.uk yellow cards on my car, wasnt even stuck. First thing I noticed was how badly written it was compared to other Traffic Warden tickets you may get, It actually says "The Car Park operator" blah blah blah, but I wasnt in a car park?
If anything I was blocking a public footpath across the gap between two footpaths, but I was on the main road not a car park.
I have checked on the web site and my details are there, photos etc but I havnt filled anything in.
Theres even a picture of the sign.
    What do I do?
    Andy

Same as on all the other threads like this one. Loads of them to search for & read.

And read the NEWBIES thread, top of this forum (no link given, one click away, see my sig).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi I've just got a NTK from my parking charge and while they have my details they have not provided any photos to prove their case. My main worry is that if I try to pay I really don't want to give them my credit/debit card info. If it is a scam, then it's going to cause me all sorts of problems. What should I do? Can I send a cheque to them? I was parked outside of the lines but I have a disabled badge and I didn't think that it was necessary to show as I didn't realise that I was contravening any so called "laws" Can anyone help?
    many thanks
    Craig

No-one here PAYS a private parking charge - they are ALWAYS a scam! Course you don't send them money. Come on.

You need to read the NEWBIES thread, and search the forum for 'myparkingcharge.co.uk'.

  • Good morning,
My partner got one of those MyParkingCharge notices placed on her car yesterday, as neither of us had ever heard of this type of notice before, perhaps foolishly, I logged on to the website stated on the ticket (car is not registered in my name) to view what the so called contravention was, however the website could not find the ticket. One of the boxes (last one) that shows the serial # is blank, perhaps that would be the reason the ticket could not be found?
Our intention is to wait for the notice by post and then see what's what.
I posted here in the hope that we could receive further advice from this very interesting post. In the meantime I will read the "Newbie" post mentioned in the forum (once I find it!) thank you.

  • @ Sunny757 - Yes read the Newbies thread at the top of the home page (as linked to by pappa golf).

Do a lot of reading on the Forum to get your head round how these parking companies operate and the whole process of the private parking ticket routine or scam as most know it as.

The registered keeper will shortly receive a NTK PCN through the post from VCS or Excel (whichever was the car park operator). You can then start your own thread on here and receive the appropriate advice as how to proceed.

VCS & Excel are both members and approved operators of the IPC (read up on them), the worst of the two trade associations.

If you do start a thread, don't imply who was driving in any way. No 'my partner', just say 'the driver'.
  • I too have received a 'Parking Charge Notice' from myparkingcharge.co.uk. I opened up their website to view the charge and filed an appeal. I was annoyed to find that in order to lodge the appeal I had to disclose my address. I really don't think that they are allowed to do this.
I have received emails and a letter from them stating that the notice was issued fourteen minutes after the the allowed 'grace' time for parking beyond the ticket expiry time. This statement is untrue. They are also threatening debt recovery operatives.
They are saying pay £60 before a certain date or the cost goes up to £100.

SHOULD I PAY THIS OR NOT ?
  • Many thanks for the advice, waiting for the ticket now :-(
