A Ditherer's Diary (again)

  • The little off-track excursions are all part of the overall journey, it’s not put you back to square one - it’s just a slight diversion that you can correct.
You’ve had such a difficult month with your poor dog, and I always find my spending measures my emotions.

So, don’t beat yourself up about it and make a cuppa (or get a glass of wine) and sit down to update. You will feel much better when you know where the spending happened.

Thanks, I never thought to equate it to emotional spending but it makes sense. Also had 16's birthday so lunch etc.

Agree with comments above, youve just gone off on a diversion is all. You can make it back to where you were originally heading though. I too would sit down with wine, chocolate and the laptop. Once youve done it, regardless of bad news along the way you will be one step closer to being back on track.

Some progress no matter how small is better than nothing.

Well done - it's always better to know what you are actually dealing with. You can plan then.....

Bank account done up to 7th June. I've got to stop and do some actual work.  Had to spend £98 yesterday getting camp bed and bits for 16's working away trip 🤦‍♀️

This week MrM had a letter from HMRC telling us he was due a £623 rebate! Yay!  Today he received a company wide email to say the company had essentially messed up and HMRC will be claiming it back.  I did wonder how someone who paid tax by PAYE was getting such a large rebate.  His company are fairly big but they are c$%p at everything they do.  Case of company got larger with small company mentality.

I've also been thinking about my pots. I've decided I need to review them as I used to have the vets, dog food and pet insurance and don't need them to pay out now.  My sofa payments also finish within a couple of months and I think I can afford to put a bit less into the car repairs pot now as it's sitting at £500 and although I know I need two new tyres both MOT's aren't due until 2022.

And I need to check my Barclaycard as the 0% interest is due to end at the end of July. I need to see if I have any offers from anyone else and what space I have on other credit cards. I don't want to apply for any new credit cards.

Credit cards total balance at the moment is £27,392.82.

It sounds like you’re making progress which is great, it’s helped get your thinking cap on and see where you can work to get closer to your goal. Great work!
