In my experience several of the invites will go missing even if you give them directly to the kids! If you've got a class FB or whatsapp group it's always worth putting a message on there in case anyone is blissfully unaware. There are always a portion who don't reply and it's really annoying."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1

My boys never mentioned invites and I always felt so guilty when I found them screwed up at the bottom of their bags. I always did major/minor for birthdays- major present for the big one, minors for the other boys (like Christmas stockings a few pounds rather than big spend. Bubble blowing things, play dough, sweets). My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks both, of the replies I’ve had there seems to have been a mass losing of the invitations. 😂 Teacher was aware & got DS to hand them out in class but it seems that a lot didn’t make it home. Teacher then took a photo of an invitation and sent it to all the parents and still have only had 50% response rate. 🤷🏻♀️
I did actually message one of the mums as had her number from a previous party to make sure her DD had the invitation and she did but had forgotten to reply. I didn’t want to seem like a weirdo texting everyone who I have a number for though! Most of the boys in his class are coming which is good as there are only 7 of them, haven’t heard from 2 and presume at least 1 isn’t coming as he hasn’t attended any of the other parties DS has been to.
Also noticed at the last party DS went to that a lot of the parents stayed. I always drop DS off & leave, now I think I’m in the minority and have missed out on the parent networking. 🤔 I only know 2 mums because their kids were in nursery with DS and they are both sociable people who talk to everyone anyway. 😂
I’m rubbish at small talk with people I don’t know and people often take the shyness for me being stuck up and then dislike me. 🫤
Redo the major/minor present idea is really good. I would normal get something small for DD but just didn’t think. 🤦🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Just to say you won’t look like a weirdo texting everyone!I think this is normal or is it just me that’s the weirdo?! 😂🙈
I always text everyone and if I’m slow to respond to invites myself I usually find the other parent chases.I then text everyone again during the week of the party to “check dietary requirements” but really it’s to remind them about the party. I have forgotten parties before until the other parent texted me the day before so as an attendee I really appreciate when people do this.Re parent networking - yeah I stayed at all the parties during P1 for this reason. Now I stay about 50% of the time. Sometimes they are too far away to be worth going home really (he doesn’t go to a local school). I have a couple of really good friends amongst the mums now and I’ll stay if they are there as it’s a chance to hang out (or we all go for coffee while the party is on). But I do leave otherwise, think it’s good for them to have some independence so don’t fret if you don’t enjoy the parties. There are other ways to meet mums.It is good to have some mum friends in their class/school though for me as I don’t have family to help with pick up but my friends and I will now pitch in to help each other if we need it. I know you have your mum to help with that and your DH works shifts whereas my DH is always working over the school run so it really is 100% on me if I didn’t have any friends with kids at the school. Obviously I just ask for help if I really need it not all the time!
Meant to stay, I do always stay if DD is at the party too (or it’s a party for her nursery friend) as I feel she’s a bit young to go on her own yet.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Thanks Bluegreen, I only have the phone numbers of the mums who have given parties previously so not that many and there’s only 2 of those that haven’t replied.
It actually didn’t occur to me to stay at the parties. 😂 I’m so antisocial and DH was insistent that I leave as he didn’t want DS being clingy. DS is now quite happy to be left at parties so that’s good but now I don’t really know anyone and they all seem to know each other. 🫤 I think a few of them have older children in the school though so that might be why.

I managed to re-pot or move most of my tomato plants into grow bags before work today. Also moved my peppers and some calendula seedlings into bigger pots.
Got two washings done & hung out as well.
Did my weekly weigh and have only lost 0.8 of a pound 😂 but it’s still a loss I suppose. I have been managing the 14 hour fasts so will maybe up that once it’s more of a habit.
Going for a haircut tomorrow, my hair has gone really thick and fluffy so really needs it. Will walk down and back again as it’s only 20 minutes each way.
Hoping to get my second coat of gloss done in the next few days as well to finish off the doors and skirting in the upstairs hallway.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I don't think it's weird texting either.
I stayed to parties in the first year, but now I drop and run. I didn't find the parties any easier to interact with the other parents than on the school playground so I don't think you've really missed out. I'm antisocial too so not bothered."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1 -

😂 I thought everyone hated kids parties but most of the adults seem to stay at the ones DS goes to, although as discussed before they are probably smarter than me and networking. 😂
Have finally finished the glossing upstairs in the hallway. 🎉 But still have to do the insides of DD's room and our room. I'll probably start that in a week or so as I'm working 3 early shifts from Sunday then DH & I are off to York for a couple of nights (child-free!) for our 10th wedding anniversary. Looking forward to the break, just hope the kids behave for my mum and DD doesn't kick off too much at bedtime which is when she usually wants me for "mummy cuddles".
Haven't got much else done in the house tbh, been managing to get at least 1-2 washings done and hung out every day due to the dry weather and de-furred the couches yesterday. Being very lazy this morning and just relaxing before the soft play party hell later.
I did go through my clothes and got rid of another bin bag full and also thinned some of the kids stuff as well. DH & I also took a lot of stuff to the dump that had been sitting out in the garden ready to go for a while.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
