Hi jokono 👋🏻 I’m still chasing DH about these swimming lessons. 🙄
I applied for my cha$e account at the end of May, was waiting about 3 weeks. My main stocking up problem is things like moisturiser. 😂 If there is an offer on and they’re half price I buy 4 instead of just 2 etc. They are often on offer so I don’t need to do this. Maybe it’s partly fear of missing out. 🤷🏻♀️DS was great, he looked like he was enjoying it. Just remembered DH was a bit bemused when they all started singing Ye Cannae Shove yer Granny aff a bus. 🤣 I don’t think he knew it as a child! 🤷🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I’m a devil for stocking up when things are on offer and end up spending more to “save” money.I bet OH’s face was a picture when they sang that song 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Yes SA that's my problem - I'm saving money whilst spending more. 🤔 😂 Need to talk myself down at times. DH was just totally confused by a song about shoving/not shoving your granny off a bus. 😂
Beanie it was super cute, I was crying through most of it. 😂 I bought some Super Mario key rings today for DS's book bag and P.E. bags so that he knows which ones are his as they are school ones so there will be 20+ of the same bags of each type in his class! I need to find a backpack that he will like but one that isn't bigger than him! I never envisioned having to measure my child's backpacks to work out the optimum size of bag. 😂 I also need to order more name stickers for all his clothes/shoes/bags etc.
After me moaning about DH not sorting out DS's swimming lessons he finally spoke to someone and DS is starting his first 10 week block on Monday! It cost £53 which is fairly reasonable actually. I just hope that DS doesn't freak out in the first lesson and refuse to get into the pool. 😢
DH has also been listing some of the stuff he has lying about and has sold some of it. He made an overpayment of £75 to his car loan with it. 👍
Poor DD isn't well, she woke up crying last night then screamed for an hour saying her ears and teeth were sore. She finally fell asleep after medicine and a lot of tickles. This morning when I got her up I found sick all over her bed. 😩 I don't know if she didn't shout/cry after being sick or if I didn't hear her. 😭
Poor girl has been ill all day but only threw up once more - partly on my shoulder & arm which was lovely. It seems to be a similar bug to the one DS had last Friday which is weird!
DS had a fun day at nursery with a bouncy castle & ice cream van and he gave his key worker a present and card I got. My mum then picked him up and took him home on the bus. They went to a reptile pet shop and petted a big lizard that was wandering around the shop as he was the owner's pet. 😱 Then he got to walk my sister's dog up a big hill and has basically had the best day of his life. 😄 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Going to have another quiet day today as DD is still not feeling great. 😕 She slept through & hasn’t been sick again but isn’t herself.
It’s looking quite grey & dull here, hopefully the rain will stay off so I can get a washing out.Need to pick DS up from my mum’s later but that’s about it.
I have a lot of peppers & carrots in the fridge that need to be chopped and frozen before they go wrinkly.DH has been meal planning & cooking a lot more as he’s still off work. Definitely helps having him around more.
DS is finishing nursery on Tuesday so we will need to think about things we can do to keep the kids occupied during the holidays.DS has already asked to go to the zoo and the beach. Swimming is another thing we can do as it’s not too expensive.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have been fairly busy today - have done 2 washings & hung them up on the heated airer as it’s raining (boo), did the big clean of the litter trays, peeled, chopped & blanched the carrots so they can be frozen, made a cheese & onion quiche for dinner, pineapple cobbler for dessert & have taken some pork shoulder steaks out of the freezer to make into pulled pork in the ninja for enchiladas another day this week.
I chopped & froze the starting-to-go-wrinkly peppers yesterday.
DH did the meal planning for the week then did the online shop. Hopefully this will stop us getting takeaways so often and stop the top up shops that turn into £20-£30 spends when you went in for 2 things!
We will need to start planning in lunches as DS will be off nursery and is used to having something hot most days.Hoping to make some soup and some scones this week as have all the ingredients.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks redo, I have days where nothing much gets done and days when I am less lazy and get lots done. It feels never ending with the kids just now but really, DS is starting school in August and DD starts nursery in November which will make a massive difference. Just need to keep slogging through for now.
DS finished nursery forever yesterday 😢 we have his lovely book that his key worker stuck lots of photos in and wrote wee stories about him too, it's lovely. This also means I have both kids at home for 6 weeks plus DH as he is still signed off work! I'm not going to get peace any time soon.
DS did great at his first swimming lesson on Monday and seemed happy. There are only 2 other kids in his group just now which is good. 👍 I was worried that he would freak out and refuse to get into the pool but he was fine. We will need to try and go swimming with both kids at least once a week as well as DD loves it but is too young for lessons yet, she has to be 3 to join.
I have cashed in some more survey money and PA so have paid £50 towards debts. The balance transfer has went through from my CC to the new Mr S one which is 0% until March 2024. The balance left on the first CC is 0% until March 2023 & is the smaller amount so I will be overpaying that one first and hopefully can clear it before the 0% runs out. That is probably a bit optimistic but worth a go.

Made pulled pork enchiladas yesterday and even DS ate some (despite being at that age where anything that looks different is declared disgusting). It was really nice, the leftovers are in the freezer and can be used for work dinners for me.
Took the kids to the library this morning to return some books and get more out. Got them signed up for the summer reading challenge and DD got her own library card too. DS gets a swimming pass for the first 3 books he reads (or has read to him) and when he gets to 6 gets entered into a prize draw plus some stickers etc. Also need to convince him to design a robot as there's a competition to win an ipad. He's not much of a drawer though so doubt he'll be interested.
DD too young for the reading challenge so she gets a mini one and gets stickers for reading a certain number of books. It's a really good idea to encourage kids to read more.
DS was being a bit stroppy and rude to the librarian - not answering her, wandering off etc. 🙄 At least DD was polite and said thank you for her library card.
Have only done a couple of washings so far today, feeling drained as the kids just seem really grumpy!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.1
