Kids continued being grumpy yesterday so I didn’t get much done beyond basics plus fit in reading some paranormal nonsense books in my 3 month free trial for k*ndle unlmtd. I manage to get them every so often and like to read a lot of nonsense which is enjoyable but I wouldn’t pay for. 😂
DH made a beef & ale pie for dinner yesterday which was nice athough a bit too mushroomy. The kids ate the pastry, carrots & a bit of beef out of it. About 3 big portions left over so DH flung those into the freezer as well.
Today DH cleaned the floors downstairs whilst I cleaned the kitchen. The inside of the fridge still needs done but got everything else done.Cleaned & oiled all the wooden chopping boards but DH has been using a couple them for chopping onions and one for fish so they absolutely stink and I don’t think I can get the smell out. As soon as they get wet the smell comes out & I can’t cut fruit on the onion-y one as it tastes of onion then too. 🤢
Quite annoyed as they weren’t cheap and we had to get rid of the previous ones for the same reason. 😟
I used a mixture of white vinegar & bicarb to scrub them and I think it drew out some of the smell but not all of it.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Got myself out into the garden and deadheaded the climbing rose in the front garden and pulled all the daffodil leaves out in the back.
Also weeded and relocated a heuchera that was being squashed underneath the Californian lilac.
Planted out my sunflower seedlings and my marigolds then finally remembered to put plant feed in the watering can for the courgettes, cucumbers, runner beans, raspberries & blueberries.
One of my blueberry bushes looks dead, all the leaves have dropped off! I don’t remember this happening before so am a bit worried.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Have you tried rubbing the chopping boards with half a lemon and salt?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

SA, I will try that next, thanks for the suggestion. Especially useful as after I spent all that time trying to get the chopping boards less smelly, I walked into the kitchen to find DH chopping bl**dy onions on one again. 🤦🏻♀️Working lates 4 days out of the next 5 so will be tired. DH in charge of the kids so hopefully they’ll behave. They were all driving me batty yesterday afternoon. 😤
Went out to work early today as had a parcel to collect (next size up swimming stuff for DS from v!nted, under £4 for swimming shorts & top). Also had some shorts to return and had a wander around tk maxx trying to find something to buy my mum for her birthday. Bought some collagen serum and nice bath foam but really struggling to think of anything else.I have talked myself out of buying new blueberry bushes about 3 times since yesterday. Also want to pre-order raspberry canes for delivery in November but don’t have the money so am again talking myself out of it. 😳Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I still haven’t ordered blueberry plants or raspberry canes, so that’s good.
Have nothing else for my mum’s birthday though, might just offer to take her out shopping at some point.Poor DS had a temp again yesterday and was coughing a lot. He woke up much better this morning though. 🤷🏻♀️ DH has taken him to his swimming lesson as he’s perked up so much!
I managed to hoover the couches and turn all the cushions over this morning. They were covered in cat hair & one back cushion had a huge dent in it where Big Cat has been lounging. 😂
DS has managed to lose 3 small pieces from one of his Lego figures. I can’t find the missing bits anywhere in the living room, so annoying! I could buy the missing parts from Lego but due to a service charge & delivery it will cost £6.50. 😱 I don’t think I can bring myself to do it. 😂
DH was very upset with DS over it as he keeps losing bits of his Lego models then they won’t go back together. DH thinks DS is being “ridiculous” & “irresponsible” I mean, yes it’s annoying but also, he’s 5 so 🤷🏻♀️.I told DH not to go off on one at DS, he’ll learn and will start to look after them better eventually. I don’t want him to be scared of his dad over something that’s pretty silly in the grand scheme of things. DS is very sensitive and takes things to heart, DH was threatening to sell his Lego at one point. 🤦🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have checked back and worked out my survey, receipt apps & cashback earnings between January & June this year.
Gift vouchers earned £185
Cash earned £520
So pretty good totals - most of the cash has been paid off debt or saved in the Christmas fund and the vouchers have been used towards things we were buying anyway.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. That's a lot of extra money! ⭐
My Mr gets irritated with small things sometimes, usually when he's stressed or tired himself. His biggest trigger is eating though, he used to get very frustrated when the boys were not using 'proper table manners'. I then got triggered because my dad was always angry around meal times (and the rest of the time really, but meal times stayed with me). We got to a point where we both manage our reaction as much as we can, depending on who is less exhausted.01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

I'm mean, I glued my House Troll's lego models together as I was building them. He had an extra set of lego blocks for random building.1

Thanks jokono. 🙂 DH is definitely both stressed & tired which is probably why he blew his top over it.
Cranky that is an excellent suggestion, wonder if I could get away with that with my DS. 🤣
I can understand why DH gets annoyed over it, I spent ages the other week rebuilding Lego cars with DS (that we helped him build then he took to pieces again) and within a few days he had dismantled them all again and lost a few pieces to boot! 🤦🏻♀️DS then starts kicking off because he can’t rebuild it and it’s highly irritating having a 5 year old screaming at you to “fix it mummy, fix it” 😟 I don’t even like Lego so it’s like a punishment 🤣 He can’t even tell me where he lost the pieces half the time. 🤦🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Rather than use superglue I used basic household glue which does seem to degrade and come apart over time. Another thought is would he like Playmobil stuff. It's a bit more forgiving when taken apart but just as impossible to break as lego bricks.2
