  • Evening all :coffee:
It's so cold tonight - heating is on and I'm snuggled in pj's but still freezing my butt off. Another very busy day at work so not much time for getting other stuff done.
Ally - when I read your post I was looking for an eloquent way of saying that I thought it was anxiety talking you out of applying for promotion, and then Foxgloves put it way better than I ever could. I suffer badly from anxiety and something like a promotion is a truly massive deal to me. I can talk myself out of all sorts of things because of the fear. Get applying, and good luck with it.
Ziggy - so sorry to hear your news. I know it's 'routine' but it's certainly not routine for you.
Katy_ann - I'm so sorry you're going through all of this stress with your little one. Get yourself a good rest tonight, and I hope you and he are both on the up very soon.
So, I don't have a massive amount of mse stuff to report today... I've had a nsd, and will need to have many more in January if I want to make the books balance. I didn't think I'd gone wild over Christmas but I probably have been a bit more lax over the hols than I should have been. Good news is that freezer and cupboards are pretty much full and the bills are paid. Onwards.
I've had a non stop and very productive day at work, which is good as well. And I've done my dailies at home as well, dishes, rubbish, washing and hoover... Leftovers for lunch and dinner tonight which has been a godsend - I must batch cook over the weekend to get more in the freezer to save me a load of time and stress next week.
I'm determined to relax tonight because I need another productive day tomorrow...

    Hi all

Yeah, you can do it Ally, and really because the promotion is permanent you have got to give it a go.

Hope your little one has a restful night Katy-Ann.

Gave up at job no. 2 and came home because of the cold, what a wimp. My office is a little cubby hole partitioned off a big industrial building which has no real heating. I have a heater blasting away in my office but the minute someone walks in all the heat is gone. I could actually see my breath in front of me. Oh and this is despite wearing full thermals, trousers, boots, a long sleeved t-shirt, polo necked jumper, big cardigan and a scarf!!!

However, my target is to get 15 hours in on job no. 2 and I have only done 8 hours this week. Tired now but I should really do a bit more.

Thanks Everyone for taking the trouble to reply, especially Foxgloves. I'll mull over your words.

  • Katy Ann...my thoughts are with you. We spent a long time with a little one in the NICU, it is exhausting...and lots of hospital linked stuff is expensive. Be gentle with yourself and do what you need to get through.

Ally... I too say give it a go. Your colleagues think you can!
I'm just going to leave this link here....it inspired me to take a chance in a similar position, and I have never regretted it!

  • Ally go for the promotion, its seems the only sensible decision from what you've said. You're currently in a temp position and acting up (and doing a good job I assume? Apart from working lots of hours and being knackered it hadn't come across like your been struggling?) From what you've said your temp job could (and is likely to?) end when demand dies down.

My conclusion is unless you don't like the job or any aspect of it, like the hours, then you should apply

Katy so sorry hear what a hellish time you are having. Thinking of you and little man. Hope you get some sleep. I love sayings and I often repeat this one of myself (my line of work and character often means I don't take good enough care of myself when I have to much on my plate) "always pour your own tea first. You can't serve others while you're dying of thirst" x

Ziggy sorry to hear your dh isn't well x

Nothing of why importance to add. Kept up my usual skinflint style! I'd arranged with a colleague before Christmas to meet for a coffee (was just trying to build a better worrying relationship but in truth I'm never really going to get on week with this person) and then remembered it was today. Suggested we have a tea or coffee in the office and go to the lounge so we could catch up instead :rotfl:

Made log of mileage to claim the massive £2.40 :o

Had tuna sarnie for tea as forgot to get anything out of the freezer and I was starring when I got in!

Day 5 of frugal January and or fridge is bare. Going to have to get inventive soon. Might have to have a baking session at the weekend and make some wraps, cheese straws and maybe some cinnamon buns. Also need to get a bit inventive for ohs lunches....

    See you :A

Rather pleased with myself. Another 1.5 hours paid stuff done. PJs on next and maybe a little drink of the leftover Christmas wine or the Baileys Mum bought me. Night all.

    Just realised I've had a NSD :T

I have been feeling a little dizzy and didn't feel like cooking so we had cheese on toast with beans on it for dinner, it made a nice change.

The Eon saga continues, after emailing the pic of the meter to nice man he has managed to update the meter reading though the bill still says I owe them £1,497  even though their estimated reading and the actual reading are, I think, 1000kWh different and he can't tell me how much this equates to in money terms. It's a whole digit out on the second from the left dial and a bit more on the others. The jury is still out on the first dial as the angle of the first photo made it look like it wasn't exactly on a number (which I think it pretty much is) which was why he thought the moving in reading might be wrong so I've taken another more front on one to email for Monday.

Prickly rude woman at work isn't speaking to me and is avoiding eye contact after me retaliating in kind yesterday which suits me fine, as per one of my favourite quotes, sometimes you just have to adjust your crown and let them know who they're dealing with :rotfl:

Have a good evening all :)
