Well I've had an interesting day so far...
Started by being served a Slush Puppy from the kitchen tap when filling the kettle and dog water bowl, which was rather amusing. It was not so funny when taking a shower and the boiler had a temporary hissy fit about trying to heat ice. Still, it was refreshing....
Small forgot to bring his lunchbox home from school yesterday, so he proudly trotted into breakfast club with his sandwiches in a Christmas bag.
[STRIKE]Threw[/STRIKE] delivered Tiny to preschool and realised with horror I'd left his changing bag at home. Sidled off without admitting this error, with fingers crossed that a new nappy wouldn't be needed.
Off to get corn for our chickens who are on enforced shed-rest due to the DEFRA warning about bird flu and promptly spent £40 on treats for my various animals! Returned home to find poor builders trying to chip away at the clay in our garden in an attempt to dig a storm drain trench. It was -5° in the sunshine at this point. Made them tea and suggested indoor work. Got dragged into a discussion about employment and life skills that meant I froze to the marrowbone while they drank their brews.
Defrosted back in the caravan, only after clearing up the devastation created by my older dog who had obviously had a panic attack when a bulb blew and tripped the fuses. It took me 20 minutes to work out it was the lights and not the TV that Tiny was screaming had switched off.
Lots of texts, emails and phone calls made, WM and TD fed several times. Mount Ironmore now awaits. Collected Small from school who was furious that we had forgotten to take his fossil kit to school this morning for his show and tell. He informed me he had had to resort to speaking about his gingerbread man keyring (huh?). He is sporting a fat lip that was apparently (according to his teacher) a result of energetic dance improv with his friend and a hula hoop.
Home again, Shepherd's pie made...secretly scoffed an entire bar of chocolate from the boys' stash, while straight-facedly offering fruit as their tea-time snack (evil mother, I know :rotfl:)
Just sat down to wait for dinner to cook and am craving a glass of wine...nope, I'm doing Dry January, so DH will just have to suck up my grouchy mood when he gets home.
As you can see, not much flying done, but I will clean the bathroom when the terrors are in bed.
Sorry for the essay0 -
Oh Dizzy, you couldn't make all that up could you! Personally, at this point I would forget Dry January!
Hope the new job went well Mrs MP.
Well done Mumof2 on the new work.
Spent most of today at job no. 2. Is only supposed to be until lunchtime, but it seemed to just carry on... Before I went though, I did manage to do 1 x WM, quick HH ironing, and dash the vacuum around the living room. Dinner is now bubbling in the SC, and I forced myself to clean the bathroom before it got too dark.
On the plus side, I got a belated secret santa form work which included some lovely handcream, just ready for my sparkly bathroom!0 -
Hi All
Slowly working my way round and de-clutter/cleaning.
Managed to get the airer up in the tiny room at the back of the kitchen (had to take the broom/mop out first). Was tricky to hang the clothes on as no room to move! I have turned the de-humidifier on and shut the door. Hoping that with such a small room it will dry quite quick.0 -
Well back from lovely meal which DH treated us to. Down side I somehow manage to spend almost £32 0n ? Who knows cos I certainly don't. On top off that teenager wants me to go with her to have her eyebrows threaded in the morning in Superdrug, I suspect another £30. On who knows what will disappear from my purse. No flyladying done today, will try try try to do better tomorrow. Teenage daughter met up with a gang of boys from the year higher then herself and chatted for ten seconds at the most with them and she turned a very splendid shade of red I have ever witnessed ! Bless !0

Horrible day at the paid stuff with bosses (I now have 5) who can't make up their minds what should or shouldn't be done.
And I was forced to clean out the cupboard of doom when a tin of tomato soup exploded in there.
However, I worked through the pain in my ankle and took the dogs for a short walk. Every step hurt but I had to get out of the house.
Oh and Littley was sick three times.
I still wouldn't swap my day with Dizzy though, but I did laugh, sorry.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Oh Dizzy what a day. Have a big virtual hug and glass of wine - virtual ones don't count, right?!
I on the other hand am having a proper glass of wine whilst cooking dinner for myself and a friend who is coming over for tea. Children are asking to go to bed now so their wish is my command! xMFW

Happy new year!
Quite a bit to read so I haven't read back yet - but I quite like there being lots of posts on the thread, nice to see what everyone is up to.
Got home half an hour ago and been very productive -cleared out the car the other day - put the CDs back where they should be as I tend to just shove them in any case - and cleared out lots of bits of paper, and 5 years worth of RAC/AA membership cards - none of them current. Seems breakdown cover ran out in October. No letter or anything, so I've got that done, made a couple of calls, tidied the coffee table, made a second cuppa and checked my emails. Pat on the back. (Maybe the thread should have a 'dejunk the car' item on at some point - or am I the only one...)0 -
Horrible day at the paid stuff with bosses (I now have 5) who can't make up their minds what should or shouldn't be done.
.
I feel your pain Jazee.
I don't have 5 bosses just one 'sort of' (hard to explain) boss who is rude, ignorant, aggressive and abrupt.
He's made the first working week of the year quite unpleasant and I would dearly love to bring him down a peg or two. He has no idea about my work but is too arrogant/ignorant to respect the fact I work hard and do a very good job.:( If I had other options I would tell him where to go
Sorry to moan folks. The fact is I love my job, but this monster makes it very trying at times.
Loving reading this thread. Dizzy you certainly had a day of it.
I've just cooked/used up loads of veg bits from the fridge and freezer for dinner (cleaning it out as I cooked) in prep for a big shop on Saturday.
My non-virtual wine is poured and a shower and clean PJ's await me.
Enjoy your evening all:)'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Lol dizzy sorry but lol (have mental image of you sidling out of playgroup even though I don't know what you look like)!

Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Mmm, another here who has a boss that doesn't exactly make my working life a pleasure but nothing that I can do about it. At least I only have 1 of them!
Dizzy as the song says the only way is up. I would sing that for you but you have suffered enough today x
No flying done. Lots of paid stuff. DH been home and kept things to a sort of man-tidy level but he did feed us all.
Went to Li@l and the shelves were bare - apparently they have had a mad rush. On the upside I only spent £14.
Back to the paid stuff. I nearly froze to death at job no. 2 so I came home early, there is lots to be done.0
