If she is as serious as you said, I'm sure she will relish the responsibility and do you proud, don't worry. I know I would have at that age (I'm assuming she's quite young?). And she has her mum on hand if she has any questions/difficulties.

    Have a great holiday!

Yes she's only 16. She came to do work experience last Summer and then I offered her a Saturday job. When staff went on holiday I got her to work in the holidays. We were originally going to give her an apprenticeship but she is staying at school for her A levels now.

I trust her with the keys etc, and know she will be polite and as helpful as she can to customers.

Having tea and toast, and in no rush this morning as all the poaching etc was done before, and we plan to leave around 11.30.
Looking forward to splashing around in the pool with Dgd.

As predicted the usual where are we, what Road etc and a stressed arrival. Just before bed I told him not to start!
This morning I had words too, because he ignored my morning contact and got up and walked away. Then was surprised when I told him he was being rude. Not the best start to a holiday I have ever had. I also promptly hit my head on a window frame and have a terrible headache. Luckily Dgd is playing happily in the swimming pool with some other children and calm has settled. Bf has just gone shopping for some beers as the cafe here is closed until further notice due to a death in the family it says.
Biggest is in a flap as DS still hasn't been paid and she's been trying to cover his insurance etc and can't do it as her husband is also now getting narked. Good first day of the holidays then!
What I am supposed to do is beyond me. Can't even use the credit card as emergency because it was used fraudulently and I had to report it. So new card not arrived before I came here.
I think my family think I have a magic wand.

Stayed by the pool yesterday afternoon. Ready loads of my book.
After we all had showers and changed we went out in the car and found a restaurant to eat at. Which was quite nice. I had a hamburger stack, with onions, cheese, bacon and salad with a fried egg on top it was huge. Dgd had pizza, bf had mixed grill. I had wanted paella but the paella chef was on her day off apparently.
We sat drinking a couple of glasses of wine when we got back to the apartment and Dgd had gone to bed. Although I sat reading and bf played on his tablet. We don't have much conversation really.
Dgd and I both have sore throats this morning so a look out for throats sweets later then. We are thinking about going for a drive to the beach today.

Dgd was sick just as we were going to go out. So BF spent the morning by the pool, and I sat in the apartment reading. While Dgd rested.
We have just had a salad, and as she is feeling brighter we are going to try to go out again. Fingers crossed. Personally I see disaster looming. But trying to be positive.
    ( ok so I don't feel it).

We went to the nearest beach, it was very rocky and the current wasquite strong. I am not a fan of it but bf was good with Dgd in the water. We stayed in the apartment, well on the roof terrace during the evening and ate our pizza and chips and shared a bottle of wine. I had finished my first book at the beach and currently reading one via the kindle app on my iPhone.
I have been contacted by another seamstress that I helped last year and she has seen my Facebook page about loosing the seamstress and has offered to help me. So I have given her number to give to my staff to hand out if people can't wait until my return.
My brother messaged me this morning to see if we are all ok. I suppose the Barcelona tragedy had Mum worried but we are about 600 kilometres away.
Well today maybe a bit closer as we have driven to Benidorm!
The sea is Sandy and not so rough too. But God the amount of people here!
Dgd and bf are playing ball in the sea, and I am back in the shade.
Now I have updated I plan to read again.

Dgd has tonsillitis. So been quiet poorly over night. I went to the chemist this morning and got antibiotics and ibrufen for her. She has been better this afternoon and has been playing in the pool. Although I am not sure how much of that is shear willpower.

Mooloo, are you certain DGD has bacterial tonsillitis? Did the hotel doctor take a swab which has come back positive?
If so, fine, but if not be careful: Spain is one of the countries where antibiotics are still handed out rather too freely [especially when foreigners are boosting the chemist's income by buying them at full price], so if DGD actually has the more common viral tonsillitis then not only will the antibiotics be ineffective, but you risk her developing a resistance to that type - which could have serious consequences if she really needs them later in life. Keep the packet and show it to your own GP next time you have to see him, so that he can amend DGD's records.
Anyway, hope DGD is soon back to full health and you all enjoy the rest of your holiday. :)
