Is it possible to preempt his stress by asking him to plan your route into the airport and re parking as you are really busy with work?
Tell him now you do not know the airport well so it doesn't catch him by surprise.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I must have had a premonition as Seamstress has not turned up, left a message on the answer machine saying something has come up. Can't reach her. I left a message back saying she should have called my mobile yesterday and given me the opportunity to work yesterday evening and come in early this morning.
I also said that I am not happy as bride is coming in tomorrow so Dress has to be done today, that I need someone who is reliable.
I am not impressed at all.
Dgd forgot her glasses so just been home to get them and take them to her. Made my self a cup of tea and now about to set up the machines for the wedding dress to do myself.
Hands be damned I will just have to cope. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I cannot say I understand how your type of buisness works but I don't understand why the wedding dress has been left until today when it is needed tomorrow.
It seems you are continually fir fighting when this could have been done a few days ago.
Your seemstress seems to believe that because you have created a flexible contract it is flexible for her as well as you, I don't know if this is right or wrong but you need to establish some new boundries for you as well as her benefit.
Hope the day goes OK, perhaps it's all part of the buisness learning curve?0 -
That is dire.

Brides keep loosing weight so that is why left late.
The bride was only in on 31st. Normally the dress would have been done on Monday or Tuesday but she was not in due to a course of injections. But she had promised to be in today and it would have not been a problem if she had.
I have done the dress, apart from seeing the beads back on, but my day was already booked with fittings and my own work. We usually turn work around in less than a week, but the wedding dresses usually within two.
There are three more wedding dresses needed by Monday. I will be doing one tomorrow plus the jobs from the 8th.
Then Saturday the third and the jobs from Today.
Monday will be anything not finished.
I had 12 jobs in today.
It is just unfortunate that I was letting her do the wedding dress and evening ones, while I concentrated on all the rest.
I have been working on my own all week, which slows me down as I am serving in the shop etc as well.
I stayed until 5.45 and managed to do a lot after shop closed at 4pm
Tomorrow I will be in at 8amWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I hadn't realised we are going from Stanstead this time. Alarm bells ring because BF is a stressful person when we travel and I am usually expected to know where we are going, etc and he will Snap if I stumble.
I have only ever been a passenger going there to collect my Mum a while ago. But I have no idea where car parks are, where to get the bus to the terminal etc
Should be interesting then!
I can't help much with the parking because we were staying in a hotel the night before, also I have blocked it from my memory because it was a heck of a long way within the airport as well, and we had to use the internal train, and we barely caught our flight. DH would say that is my fault because I hate getting up at silly o'clock and I refused to set the alarm as early as he wanted.
So my advice would be to make sure you leave more time than you expect, both to get there and to get around within the airport. Like me, you're the wrong side of London for Stansted ...
I don't know if these terminal maps will help at all ...
BTW, partly because of that experience, I am now prepared to pay in advance for fast track. And you might get it even cheaper through somewhere like Holiday Extras, and go through TopCashBack to get there.
We also flew back to Stansted once after I locked the hire car keys inside it at silly o'clock on the last day of another holiday. And once more it was a heck of a long way home, and the default route was via central London, which we didn't want to do in the rush hour. Fortunately we knew there was an alternative.

BF came over, and I sorted out the Airport Carparking, as usual looking for deals, by using my AA membership I managed to get a 15% discount off of the price. I hadn't realised we are going from Stanstead this time. Stansted is the one I usually fly from & I've never found it too bad, the longer stay car parks are off the roundabout near the M11, you will probably come from the M25 so take the airport slip (dedicated up and over coming from the south rather than to the stortford services roundabout) then come off to the next roundabout once over the 'bridge' which has the long stay signposted.
When I did park (I usually go by train from mine) the bus took maybe 15mins to get to the terminal & we didn't have to wait excessively long to get picked up, there is a main trunk road through the long stay that the bus follows so you just walk back to that after parking and note you section number/letter/colour & bus stop number to get off there on the way back.
In the terminal they now hold you up in the main shopping area until 'boarding' so as long as you note what time your gate details will be announced (at which point they sometimes start flashing panicky messages but do not worry it's just to get people moving as soon as they see which gate they need) and watch the screens closely from that time you will be able to get to any gate you're going from, if you head to gate as soon as the number comes up you will be able to get a seat at the other end to wait for boarding.
They have now got a good selection of shops and restaurants so give yourself plenty of time for a browse, security is probably the biggest bugbear and can take a while to get through (try & go right to the edge lanes) for whatever reason it never improves so leave plenty of time for that especially if travelling at a busy peak time.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

There are three dresses in total.
I did the one for today yesterday, it will need the beads put on once we establish that it fits.
I finally got to speak to the Seamstress around 6.30 last night. I am not happy with her reasons and her not returning my call in the morning.
I had a message from the second bride asking about her dress, (the one I am going to do today,) the seamstress said that she would come in on Saturday but after talking to her, then speaking to the bride it turns out that she had told the bride the dress would be ready last Monday. I have had to promise that I will do the dress myself (apparently seamstress was rude), and my thoughts about staff problems are not good. I am having to rethink my plans for next week and the near future.
I promised that I would deliver this dress after work today, fit it myself and if there is any further work required I will do it Saturday and deliver it Sunday.
I went back to work last night and worked on my small jobs to clear my work ready for the weddings today.
Dgd will be in Holiday Club from 8am until 5.45. BF will look after her when I go to fit the dress as the woman lived in Warwickshire.
I am not leaving any job for Seamstress.
I am going to speak to my Saturday girl who is in to help today and was due to work with the seamstress next week when I go away.
If she is happy to be on her own I will suggest shortening the opening hours next week between 10-2pm for collection and small purchases. I will flag up on my sites the new times. If she is not happy then I will have to close while I am away.
I am going to tell the seamstress that there is no work for her next week, and acting on my instincts today I am probably going to let her go.
I am not going to be able to do the expansion in the dress shop until I have better staff. It is best not to expand.
It means that I have my work cut out for me to clear the decks before Monday closing time.
I will now be working Sunday.
From today I will have to turn new work down until after the 24th August.
If customers can wait all well and good. If they cannot then I will suggest my DGDs other Granny and the other lady in the town.
I am not thrilled at all this but feel I have no option.
I will just have to start again with staff after the Summer break. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
