  • Thank you Cherryfudge, CCL, Lucielle & SH.

Yesterday was rain, so couldn’t get out into the garden. I decided to venture into the attic instead! There is a lot of stuff up there, sadly none that seems saleable but about a van load of the ex’s stuff. I removed a ceramic sink which I thought was rather heavy for an attic, felt somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff and came down again. Decided to try one of the floor to ceiling cupboards in the hallway. That was more manageable and with a little rearrangement I’ve been able to better store some of DD1’s kitchen boxes.  I was able to declutter a box of paperwork to the shredder and then the paper recycling bag🙂.

Had a good chat with DD1, who is thoroughly enjoying her course and the opportunities that are coming her way 🙂🙂.

Still lateral flow testing daily. Bizarrely the DC that tested positive on Sat is now getting negative lateral flows. Can’t decide if it was a mild dose or the tests? I seem to have been sneezing a lot but that could just  be the dust from the attic and cupboard.

Hope dc is feeling better and the others have no symptoms.
Lovely to hear DD1 is enjoying her course, that will put your mind at ease.
Its good to be stuck in now and again (obviously rather not be because of Covid illness) but you get bored and makes you look at the jobs you keep putting off.

    Lovely news about DD1.

We did our attic during lockdown1 and I couldn't believe the amount of stuff that had been shoved up there, instead of going to the bin! Bags with broken handles etc, so I can only imagine what you've found. Is it all 'junk' of the exes or items he might request back?

My DH always gets sneezing fits after tidying anywhere that's been undisturbed for a while.

Weird re covid tests. Both my Dad and DD have had severe coughs and the conclusion has been 'they have covid' only tests of both kinds have been negative!  Dad was told it by a Dr over the phone but DD was taken into hospital with breathing difficulties, ran various tests which were negative and told there it must be covid otherwise we don't know  - it wasn't covid!

The planter idea sounds up your street.

    Glad DD1 is doing well.

  • Thank you Parkyp, Spendless, Cherryfudge and SH.

Been doing lateral flow tests everyday, some days  twice a day, to be as sure as I can that COVID hasn’t spread. So far all has been negative and the other DCs show no signs. The DC that tested positive is  bouncing around. Unfortunately I’ve come down with a cold. A friend I met up with last week was getting over a cold, which she was at pains to say wasn’t Covid, but would seem I have caught that. Will keep taking the Vitamin C and zinc each day...it can only help.

After so much rushing around between jobs, it has been so weird to stop. I wish I could say I had achieved loads at home but although I’ve done some things, I confess to having just rested and watched a couple of films with the DCs. The fire has been lit each night and it has been warm and cozy🙂.

Cherryfudge - I like your idea of doing a square metre at a time. That makes it seem much more manageable. Unfortunately the sink isn’t the right shape to be useful as a planter - not stable enough, so will be returned to the ex.

Today has been payday for all 3 jobs. They don’t usually occur on the same day. I am thankful to have had time this week to carefully plan the budgets for November. My shifts at Job 2 are far more uncertain as we go into late Autumn / Winter so I feel that my main budgeting must revolve around Jobs 1 and 3, then any extra I can get via Job 2 can be designated for debt repayments.

I have taken a little money out from the EF to meet the latest legal bill. I have been paying an amount every month which had built up to quite a bit. The last couple of months have demolished that amount so I needed to top up the payment. Not sure how much more there will be to pay but hopefully the end is in sight.

Mortgage wise, I was a little perturbed to hear about possible rate rises. At the moment I have an interest only mortgage which I want to change to a repayment as soon as I possibly can. I have been making odd overpayments as and when I can and have chipped off £500 since April. I know that’s a small drop in the ocean but I can see a visible reduction of £2 a month on the monthly direct debit.

Glad you were able to rest. I'm sure it was much needed. Can you apply for a remortgage now in your name or is it too early? That can help seal the rate... In my case it took about 5 or 6 weeks to get to offer - but I was talking to the broker a few weeks before that. I got a 5 year deal.

  • Thank you SH - hoping to apply for a remortgage but think I’ll probably need a few month’s of Job 3’s money coming in to maximise the income figures.
