This week has been one where money seems to be trickling through my fingers but not because we have been particularly extravagant. Some of it has been in car parking costs. I do try and use National Trust car parks as much as possible because I can park for free as a member but some beach car parks are council ones and some are private companies who really rack up prices. I think over this week I’ve spent £20 just in parking.
On Tuesday I took DD1 to a job interview. She lives in the same county but the other side so it was a bit of zigzagging but good to have some time with her. She has made it to the next interview round so we’ll repeat next week.
Yesterday youngest DD wanted to go back to a particular beach which is good for paddle boarding and kayaking as it’s more sheltered. She had a great time in the water as did DS3 and DSS. An evening picnic was enjoyed too.
DSS requested a fishing trip at the beginning of the week. He knew of a fishing lake locally that I had never been to but driven past the entrance frequently! It was beautiful. DS3 came as well and was very excited to join in as he’d never been fishing before. It was so relaxing…I sat on a rug with a book and had chance to read while the boys fished. I was asked to watch a rod at one point…the float went under a couple of times and I did catch a fish much to DS’s incredulity!
Today is results day for youngest DD. We have a family tradition of collecting the results and going to a particular coffee shop in the town where the school is located and having a coffee treat while we look at the results.
My lovely MIL gave me a large box of plums from her friend’s garden this week so am going to get cracking on making plum crumble today.paydbx2026 #19 £3324/£6000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £133k.

Glad youve been enjoying the last weeks of the summer hols. Sounds lovely.
Good luck to both eldest and youngest DD. Can't believe you've now got to the penultimate one being sixth form age (plus gathered some more along the way - lol).
I have fond memories of my DS fishing when he was young. My husband's relative bought a house near water, son then aged 9 caught his 1st fish there. Years later after he left Uni he first rented then later bought that same house.
Enjoy the plum crumble.
