Oh wow! That has come around quickly. And I know its sad the puppy has gone but it's to everyone's benefit so you've done the right thing.
So you've got 4 children at home? Hopefully that will reduce the taxiing and need for petrol.
I'm the same as you and yesterday was driving home from work with my fuel light on and actually needed fuel. So embarrassing. I called my thanks to the lady managing the queue at tesco.
Have you got more space now for everything? Make sure you make the reduction in your food bill work for you xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

A big day...
I hope your DD1 will be very happy in her new venture. She's been a support to you and I know you'll miss her, but you seem to have such a strong relationship and nowadays with social media it's so much easier to stay in touch.
It's good you have a home for the puppy, and one that seems 'right'. Do you still have an older dog?
The whole petrol shortage is worrying, and reminiscent of the panic buying early in the pandemic, but I can see you will need it, because of where you live. Hopefully it will ease soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It's exciting when our kids move on - but there's always going to be some sadness too. I'm sure I'll have mixed feelings when DS moves to London soon. Has your DD gone abroad?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you Kitten868, Lucielle, Cherryfudge and SH.
Lucielle- you are so right, puppies are delightful, but hard work! I won’t miss cleaning up the mess.
Kitten868 - Yes only a few at home now. I’m not having to drive quite as many journeys as I was and this will be even less now as I’m not taking DD1 to work. Will see how long the tank lasts me.
Cherryfudge - Thank you for your good wishes for DD1. You are right, social media is a help. She has helped me to slightly figure out Instagram, so can certainly keep up with her more easily! Yes the elderly lurcher is still with us. He is a great age for a dog and I’m thankful for each day we have with him. I also have DD2’s dog here ( mum to the pups).
SH - thankfully DD1 hasn’t gone abroad- her previous plans included this, but her current plans are definitely UK based!

The week hasn’t got off to a great start... had one of those ,mornings where just getting out of the house on time is a feat in itself. I dropped youngest DS to school and went on to work. I got stuck for several miles behind a tractor 😒, then turned into a lane to find the farmer was moving his milking herd at a slow pace so took even longer to get to work. I thought I had been efficient by making a flask cup of tea, got to work and found that the lid hadn’t shut properly so I now had half a pint of tea in the car rather than in my flask 😒. All of that paled into insignificance later when I learned of a local tragedy...the sort that makes you want to hug your children, hold them close and be very thankful for all that we have.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 .
