  • Not a NSD as I was tempted by Monday morning coffee and I was running late so paid for tram this morning (I usually walk 20 minutes from car park to work).

    Nothing much else to report

    1) I'm grateful for my bed - I will need it tonight (I'm exhausted!)
    2) A productive day at work
    3) Tom cooking dinner tonight

Abundant I read a very helpful book last year (also very useful for anyone with children). I have just had a scramble through my notes but can't find it just now - recently finished 3 notebooks and have ripped out the pages with info I want to keep, gradully putting it where it should be.

Anyway, I am pretty sure that 'forgiveness' was one of the optional stages (not always appropriate/ possible eg if someone you love was killed in a terrible accident but no one in particular was to blame). It was about acknowledging your 'hurt' and your feelings (working through various feelings - similar to the stages of grieving) but not getting yourself into that cycle of "Why does this always happen to me - am I so dreadful - and piling all your old injuries on top of whatever has just happened".

Will look further and get back to you.

Thank you very much shy, I'll have a look :)

    Welcome moll

abundant I've been seeing a therapist and have been working on 'postponing' issues including worrying and forgiving. You basically decide to deal with these things at a specific point in the future and then you don't have to carry them with you as daily baggage. For worrying, I mentally note down my worries and come back to them at 8pm each evening, but by then I've forgotten most of them because they weren't majorly important. Any that are still worrying, I try to work through solutions. For forgiveness, I imagine the situation/person and imagine putting the issue in a jar on a high shelf, I then tell myself when I'll try and do the forgiving e.g. in 6 months. Then in 6 months, I think about it again and see if I can forgive at that point, if not it goes back in the jar. If I think about before the 6 months I can tell myself that I don't need to as I know when I'm revisiting it. Does that make any sense?

    SFD number 12 today.
    I'm grateful for:-
    - a lovely compliment my friend gave me
    - a lovely mechanic who fixed a minor problem free of charge when I was having a panic (bonnet was stuck closed and I was out of screen wash)
    - a lovely exercise instructor who's putting on a extra class so I can attend twice a week :)

  • Morning everyone,

No NSD yesterday for me as I had to post a parcel to the tune of £12.

Today should be though which I'm happy about. Looking at my dairy for the week ahead, I do have a few social occasions through work which I'll need to show face at. Keen to keep costs to a minimum.

I have been feeling under the weather so have been reading but not posting. I have managed another NSD and am on 8 now. Some of the spend days had very low purchases but a spend is a spend. Hoping for another 3 NSD this week, maybe 4. I have decided not to include the days I pay for gym classes or PT as we pay in cash but it is a fixed bill.

DS has had a bit of a growth spurt and needed new school shoes, new rugby boots, rugby socks and school trousers at the weekend! I was worried I was going to have to buy him plus size trousers but tried him in the pleat front 7-8 instead of the flat front slimmer style and they fit him well. He doesn't have the lanky build for slim flit he is more chunky (built just like his dad):rotfl:

We have had to dip into our savings this month but I can trace exactly where our overspend has come from; February's mini cruise, clothing and shoes for DS, DH has overspent on his personal spends and we have overspent on food. Under budget spends are my personal spends (£0), miscellaneous (£10 under) and DS activities (£16 under). We haven't bought any booze or takeaways either! It was always going to be tight January but we haven't helped ourselves as the food overspending would have covered the cruise and most of DS clothes shoes!

I am on a mission this year to sort out our food spending once and for all
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Shyspender - thanks will try and get to lidlee tonight see a drill advertised 3 yrs guarantee for 25 pounds - my neighbour speaks highly of their tools and raves about their power washers , retired mechanic. Failed to get there last night

Well the door is still hanging in mid air - daughters friend ( joiner) is going to pop over later to sort it out. Think I would struggle by myself as door is so heavy and need a proper job doing for it to last.

Had to spend today anyway, yesterday a SFD, but needed a new oven bulb, hair dye and treated my garden to some new solar lights.

Spend today on PAYG Zumba and a few items in smkt which are on offer and the offer expires today (and we'll likely use them in the next couple of weeks/ definitely within the next month) I also need to send DS2 off to Scouts tonight with £1.40 :) Oooh - and I need to pay for DS3's guitar lessons (£60) - but will hold off doing that until Fri as that's payday and I'm feeling decidedly cash-poor this month!

    Jan targets:
    * Food from stores - porridge for breakfast, chicken sausages from freezer with (free- given to me) roasted BNS and some lo tinned sweetcorn. Dinner will be goodness knows when (very busy evening) but will be same as last night - rice with chilli (which includes loads and loads of veggies)
Also took 2.5kg of strawberries from freezer (home grown) to make jam with - will make the jam tomorrow :)

    * Losing weight - Zumba class. Reasonable food.

    Today I am thankful for
    * my 2 smallest going to a friend's house after school - meaning no 3pm school run for me today :)
    * Finishing the paperwork for the company ready for the accountant next month (still have to do any transactions from today - month end, but that should be no more than a 10 min job)
    * bumping into a friend this morning :)

NSD no 11. Had to stay in for heating engineer to fix radiator. Took him five minutes (thermostat apparently) and housing inspector to arrange repairs to wall following leak just before Christmas. That's a bit more complicated as it involves a heating engineer to remove and then replace radiator, joiner and plasterer. Have to say I am very impressed by service from council.
    Have finished off all the salad stuff and smoked salmon for lunch and have chunks of chorizo sausage and vegetables roasting in the oven for dinner (all from freezer or stores}
    Today I'm grateful for
Lovely. polite and efficient council workmen
    A warm living room
Looking after my little friend next door and his adorable little puppy till his Mum comes home from work
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Spend day today. Not 'budgeted' as such. Comes from the 'stuff I forgot to budget for/didn't know about category'. Weigh plates from Aldi. I have been looking for some at a reasonable price and they had the right size holes for my existing bar.

I will put them to use tomorrow. I need to burn off some excess frustration. Clients who leave their tax to the last minute and expect us to drop everything and solve a problem that needed addressing 9 months ago:mad::mad:

    Oh well. Only another week:D

    Gratitude today:-

    1) The end is in sight

    2) DH has ditched the 'weekend away' after his exams idea in favour of focussing on getting a new car organised, clearing his study (boxes from when we moved back 2yrs ago, if not when we moved in 8yrs ago)

    3) My health and growing fitness coupled with a shrinking waistline:D
