.
I have continued sorting stuff in the loft this afternoon. So far I have filled two bags with stuff to go to charity.I won't list them until they are out of my life.
But a few things I can list:
Binned:
39:small stuffed toy,had started to go mouldy in loft
40:child's novelty wash-mitt
Recycled:
41-45: 5 more Build-A-Bear workshop boxes.Had been crushed while up there anyway
46: bundle of 16 baby magazines, from 2002 :eek:.When I was pregnant with my eldest,I didn't buy many mags, but I did buy a few,and some were given to me.I also took copious notes at the ante-natal classes, and about finding the best washable nappies (of which there was not a great choice 15 y ago). All put out for recycling
47: found a cake topper that was given to me after my brother's wedding. For noe have put it in my display cabinet. There is another one around somewhere. When they finally meet up,I will decide what to do with them
Does anyone know who will take /can recycle duvets?Have 1,maybe 2 in the loft, and I am sure I saw a sign at the tip saying they go in "general waste" bin. Can't they be recycled?
See if you have any animal shelters near by, they sometimes take old duvets/blanketsI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Animal rescue groups, homeless shelters might want the duvets0

Welcome Art Deco - You may find that reading something on the subject might give you some extra motivation. Mari-Kondo springs to mind (her audiobook is on YouTube), "The More of Less" - (one I read last year that inspired me to kick off this current round of decluttering) & a few people on this thread have mentioned "The Toothbrush Principle".
Sentimental Items I found that taking a photo of some of the things my son made and gave to me including cards (inside & out - I love looking at what he wrote more than the pictures) worked well for me. Having the photos on my phone (saved to cloud though) means that I sometimes idly scroll through them when I'm on the train / bus - so I get to enjoy them more often than when they were physically here.Shifting my energy for 20200 -

I noticed this as well at our local tip. I wondered why. I know they can't be re-used but I would have thought they would be suitable for textile recycling.
We have about 5 or 6 to get rid offI am trying to prise them off ds, he likes to snuggle among them!
No homeless or animal shelters around hereI might ask in the RSPCA charity shop to see they collect them to pass on.

I don't like going to the tip as they look through all your rubbishto make sure that you are putting it the right bin.
I have a recycling/tip 'station' in my garage for the non-kerbside stuff. I have a selection of buckets and wrote on them in relation to the categories at our local tip:
Metal [any metal at all]
Small electrical [wires, appliances, cables etc]
Rubble [broken crockery & glass, stone, rubble etc]
Batteries
Clothes/fabric
Cartons [uht/milk/OJ etc]
I also have a dustbin for the burning stuff: paper/cardboard/cotton etc, but I burn that at home.
So, when I go to the tip everything is already in THEIR categories, and being in buckets, they can see that. I have 'just landfill' stuff in black sacks, tied up. So the buckets go in the car, and when I get there, they can see Ive already divided everything and they don't root through my rubbish.Save''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
