Not much decluttering happening here, 2 pairs of shoes ready to be donated, and a bookshelf unit clear of everything but books.

I spent about 2.5 hour rummaging around the loft this afternoon.I have set aside lots to take to tip tomorrow, and will list it when it actually leaves the house.Cos at the moment it has gone to being out of sight out of mind in the loft,to clutter in the house .
But decluttered for good today was:
22:OH's sound system. He bought it a few years ago, opened the box,but never got around to setting it up.Then house extension happened, now he has his own space to set it up and enjoy. For me,it sets up a bit more space in "my" loft :j.
23:long,thin plastic storage container from IKEA.Will find a use for it somewhere
    24-25: 2 laminated posters-binned
Gosh, doesn't look like alot for so many hours work.To be fair,I was really looking for/found things to go to the tip tomorrow,so I will list those when they actually leave the house tomorrow.Again,I found alot of things suitable to the nursery at kid's school, but have to wait until Monday to list those.Meanwhile they clutter up the house!Might move them into my car for the weekend :rotfl::rotfl:.

    From the house,decluttered
64-67: dead plants from around the kitchen

The other thing I deluttered last night was nearly £170 to HMRC!Actually,if anyone is still to do their tax return (due end Jan),don't put it off any longer. The way I motivated myself was this:
I told myself that I would only spend 10 minutes on it-just fill in my name, address,a few basic questions, etc (mine is only a basic return,so alot of the questions are a simple "no" for an answer.).I thought I would fill in a few of those. Then, actually,I thought I would do a bit more...I was motivated by the little thingy at the top of the page that tells you how many % through the form you are.Kept pushing myself to raise that number! Before I knew it,it was all done.I had spent more time addding up the amounts I had been paid each day for a year, than actually answering questons!
    So don't put that off anymore,people :-)

I do the same if its 'rubbish' that hasn't been thrown out straight away then as I see it, it becomes part of the house so goes on the list when it has been de-cluttered.

Did you not get on with the soap nuts? I keep thinking about using them.

I love reading everyones lists (is that perverse? :rotfl:) gives me inspiration.
Meanwhile they clutter up the house!Might move them into my car for the weekend :rotfl::rotfl:.

I do this for everything for charity shop gets bagged and put out in the car. Next day or so on way home from work I drop it off, I tend to use a few shops as it would be too embarrassing to go to the same one so often :o We also have a clothing recycle bin at one of the supermarkets so I save stuff up in the car until I have enough for a trip there.

Currently my hall is full of stuff waiting to go to tip. I couldn't load it last night as it was raining hard, trying to motivate myself to go. I don't like going to the tip as they look through all your rubbish :( to make sure that you are putting it the right bin.

Well done everyone, it's been a long while since I have been on MSE but the last time I was here I was well into getting my house and finances all in order in many ways and decluttered and tidied like a demon with the folks on the KonMari thread.

Thankfully some of that work paid off and some good habits stayed with me but life got in the way. I had quite am overwhelming year with work and other stuff going on, so things at home quickly declined and got out of control on many levels, so I decided at the latter part of last year to get a grip and get back on the tidying wagon.

I had already cleared out heaps of stuff before Christmas and with it being a new year and a new start I found my way back to the MSE fold and I am truly glad I did. I was interested in the earlier posts about the 'Toothbrush principle' and ended up buying the book on Kindle which than led me to spending most of yesterday sitting on the floor cleaning out the vanity unit in our en-suite and sorting out all the out of date lotions, potions and medicines. I threw away 45 items and then went out and bought new toothbrushes and first aid kit - the vanity unit has never looked so tidy.

I worked all day until 7pm today to iron and put back the curtains in my spare bedroom - which was the final thing required to bring it back to being a functional, clean and refreshing space instead of being a junk room full of spiders and cobwebs.

I will try and tackle 'the office' tomorrow; there's stuff all over the floor as I had made a bit of a start before Xmas and pulled a load of files and piles stuff to sort out but ended up just closing the door on it all.

It's very motivational and also infectious reading everyone else's updates on here; it really does makes you want to run around and throw everything out and there's always some ideas that we haven't put into practice before. Thank you!! :T
