I agree with that too! I don't want to throw things out because of the debts.
For me though, getting rid of the objects helps me recognise the futility of debts and reminds me not to get in such a mess again. " I. E. I paid £20 for that on a credit card, paid interest etc and now am selling it for £5. What a waste..... I won't do that again" I won't buy things I don't need anymore and I won't pay for anything on credit again. This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Today I've sorted through 2 bags, thrown out some receipts, other random bits of paper. A few pens and pencils, odd socks. A basket done, more papers gone, a puppet ready to be donated, some make up chucked and others put away. Sewing stuff put into the craft room.0

Can I join in please? My house is bursting at the seams and I need to get it under control. I think I'll try for 2017 items and tbh I probably have much more than this in junk/clutter/toot, etc. I've already made a start this year:-
1) dvd (Amazon sale)
2) book (ebay sale)
I'm back to work tomorrow so will probably put more effort in at the weekend.Just sold a book on Amazon £11.22 - so that will be my first thing out of the house (OOTH). Trouble is I can't find it. Just searched through two boxes of books - so will have to return to the search after a visit to the shops (without any clutter).
What I've found useful is having a spreadsheet of everything I'm selling, with another column for where it is. Then when I've sold it I delete that row. I've had previous experience of frantic searches.I am so going to try and do this. My house is more full of things I still have to use, I like to call it than clutter. Everything looks tidy, everything is away in organised drawers and cupboards (apart from the attic which is basically every school book, picture my kids have ever used or drawn) but I have too much.
Especially trial sized, lotions, creams, freebies samples.
I am going to try and remove one item per day more than I take in, from the house, it may not seem a lot, but at the end of the year it will be 365 less than now .
I need to do this. I'm still working my way through Christmas smellies from 2 years ago, and still have older ones in the house than this!!Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,869.54 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £130 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £131.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Today I have bagged up
13prs shoes/slippers
5 coats
plus 2 more bags of kitchen cupboard clutter.
The shoes and coats I was keeping hold of to sell on ebay but I never get round to it (working and single mum) for the amount of hassle it is and the amount I will get for them I think the satisfaction of seeing them leave the house all at once is better. I have put them in the car to drop at the charity shop on way home from work tomorrow before I change my mind!
I have been keeping everything to to sell (stems from being in debt and not having anything) My lightbulb moment is just to get rid of it all I will never find the time to sell it, there is so much its too overwhelming. Unfortunately I don't have a garage or spare room to store other wise I would do a car boot, it just sits cluttering up the rooms in the house that are suppose to be living areas0 -
19 - 22. Clothes (shorts, shirt, tie and belt) put in the recycling bank
23. Empty ink cartridges posted off for recycling
24 & 25 - 2016 calendar and Christmas Cards squeezed in (next door's) recycling box
26 - 29 4 x shirts (don't fit - charity clothing bank)
30 - 31 2 x jumpers (1 doesn't fit, one is horrid - charity clothing bank)
32 1 x tie (vile pattern which I imagine was designed by someone under the influence of drugs - charity clothing bank)
33 1 x pack of socks (cheap and nasty - wore one pair and hated them)
34 2 x air fresheners which have been hung in my wardrobe for years and are no good any more
35 A pile of sachets of tea and coffee liberated from hotels - taken to work where I will use them up (and save money by not buying tea from the kiosk!)
36 2 x disgusting cans of out of date alcohol free "larger". Down the drain and cans in the recycling
Also de-cluttered my work bag as I started a new job today which means an end to 2 years of "hot desking"! Various notepads, pens, chargers etc now safely stowed in my desk drawer, dozens of old receipts and broken pens disposed of and my bag weighs about 50% less than it did this morning.0 -

My open toe 'warmer weather" slippers have been binned. Lining worn through and I had new snuggly boot style ones for Christmas.

Well done all you busy bees. Day off yesterday but today another load ready for the tip, dd2's room nearly cleared, my bedroom back to beautiful (bed had totally disappeared!). Got rid of letter tray next to phone - it was a clutter hotspot. Christmas decs away early as I'm off to Durham till Friday and didn't think it fair to leave to lodger. Looking forward to when I can put the decs in the attic, but at the moment I need to clear the rubbish that's in there. Next decluttering scheduled for saturday.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
