19 - 22. Clothes (shorts, shirt, tie and belt) put in the recycling bank
    23. Empty ink cartridges posted off for recycling
24 & 25 - 2016 calendar and Christmas Cards squeezed in (next door's) recycling box

I have a load of cardboard but the recycling box is full and the cardboard bank at the supermarket was overflowing (to the extent that you cannot actually see the bank - it's like a huge cardboard mountain!) so that will have to wait until next week.
  • Today OH and I tackled the kitchen cupboards. Lots decluttered to take to tip/charity shop.

    6. Pampered chef chopping boards x3
    9. 3 ramekins
    12. 3 mini casserole dishes
    15. Mini grater
    16. Unused water bottle
    17. Corkscrew
    18. 2 pastry brushes
    20. Set of glass dishes that have laid unused at the back of a cupboard for 2 years
    21. Shelf for microwave
    22. Bottle rack for fridge
    23. 5 old pans
    28. 4 pan lids
    32. Small colander
    33. Small wok
    34. Broken manual chopper
    35. Broken mini blender
    36. Tongs
    37. Plastic potato masher
    38. 4 unopened boxes of chocolates
    41. 11 plastic takeaway tubs
    52. Very sticky Tupperware box
    53. Lemon juicer
    54. Set of measuring cups
    55. A barely used lunch box

And that's not including the 2 bags of rubbish we managed to throw away
It felt quite therapeutic and I now know I don't need to buy freezer bags for at least a year!

Had a sort through my card making stash today, got rid of a bagful of stuff, the set of drawers I have to keep it all in can now be closed! Although I didn't find my glue gun, so who knows where I've hidden that!

I haven't spent alot of time decluttering my house today, but for the little time I spent, got rid of alot .I actually did help a customer (have a cleaning business) declutter her bedroom. My dream come true-get paid to declutter, something I love doing anyway. :j:j

On my own house, today I have got rid of:
1-2:borrowed cookbooks returned to said customer
3:large pile of papers sorted:including such randoms as expired tesco vouchers shredded, children's drawings put together in a box for storage, children's drawings recycled, etc

Am going to count my loft decluttering seperately to the rest of the house.I don't know why ,really.I just think it is going to be such a huuuuuge job,I might stay a bit more motivated if I can actually see a physical list of what has actually left.

    From the loft:
1-4:two of my children's first pairs of shoes :D.I have kept all 4 children's first pair of shoes in the loft.Having been inspired by a friend,I have now put them on display in the cabinet I cleaned and polished yesterday. Why not enjoy such cute-ness,instead of hiding it in the loft?
5: a squashed cardboard box (which originally held teabags from Tesco),that had been turned into a 3D project for 14yo's school project when she was about 8!This is what I am like-can't throw anything out when it has been touched by a child's fair hand!
6:supermarket bag full of plastics, for donation to school for make-and-do.
7:charity bag full of plastics, for donation to school for make-and-do.

For nearly ten years,I was washing and donating plastics to my kid's primary school. So famous for doing this was I,that teachers would ask me specially if I had some yoghurt pots/milk bottle lids/margarine containers, fruit punnets, etc for their latest school project.I even collected over the long summer holidays. Then when we were sorting out the house for demolition/extension,(to start Sept 2015),I hurriedly moved the undonated bags of stuff to the loft.Since moving back into the house,I have stopped donating to school, but the bags of plastics were still in the loft.About 2 months ago a teacher asked me if I had "any" recycling stuff for a project they were doing that afternoon-I went to the loft and donated the 5 charity bags I found. These two bags were obviously missed. Will donate them this week, and that will be it.At least I know all the plastics are now being recycled by me.All this plastics I send to the school will probably never be recycled,as parents throw out the kid's "rockets",and "robots",and "houses" into the bin.
8-13: bag containing 5 toy dolls, originally destined for charity shop, but now gone mouldy. They were only cheap toys, had no clothes, but I guess at some stage I thought they were too good to throw out/didn't want to put in landfill
14: a Build-a-Bear Workshop box, which one of my kids bought home a teddy in,lovingly coloured in the box, defended it everyttime I suggested we throw it out in previous declutters. Now the box (which contained a few bits and bobs) was crushed in storage, and I can't even tell whose box it was :(.

While in the loft ,I also set aside a few items to go to the tip, hopefully this weekend, when hopefully OH will take the time to take old non-working fridge for disposal.

One thing that did strike me,while I was surveying the loft,is that there is alot of empty boxes up there: empty plastic boxes that have been emptied since we moved back into the house, empty trofast boxes, empty shoe boxes/toy boxes/anything at all boxes, kept "just in case".I think one day, when I want a visual reminder of how far we have come,I might bring down all these boxes. It will also give me more room to work.

Boxes, once hidden in the loft, breed. I think they like the dark. We have saved all our decent boxes for when we move, not sure when that will be but hopefully, we will be free of clutter by then:rotfl:

I don't have a system yet. I've decided not to include regular recycling or paper management as I would do that anyway. Other than that, I'm not sure, but this year I have decluttered:

    1. sports top (it made me itch)
    2. shoes (lovely but never worn as too strappy)
    3. plastic wallets
    4. digitial cables
    5. light timer
    6. re gifted tea caddy
    7. new dress (didn't try on when purchased:()
    8. nail soak
    9. nail polish
    10. a book mark
    11. a museum notebook

    Thanks for starting this thread.

    Right today so far.

    I Jumper
    2 old suncreams
    1 insect repellent
I bottle of tea tree oil dated 2002!
    1 bottle of aftersun

Last night I added a pile of books and 2 calenders.
1 biscuit tin and a makeup bag.

I have opened up a couple of kitchen cupboards and found stuff that I don't use so will tackle that this weekend.

I also have some bits and bobs that are OHs. He is away this weekend so I am going to move them and see if he notices. If he doesn't then they can go.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • So far, so good :

--2 kids dressing gowns to go [they got new ones]

--A bunch of surplus crockery and cutlery, but I am leaving it in the shed for a while to see if I need any of it, and if after a while I dont, I know where to take it!

--Stuff in the fridge from new year that I know won't get eaten because its odd stuff

--About 8 empty marmite jars *ahem*

--Jars of old pickle/apple sauce/cranberry that wont get eaten. Its a shame to throw 2 almost full jars of cranberry away, but it will just sit in the fridge all year taking up space and not being eaten, like last year. (I will re-use the little jars soon because Im going to melt down all my old candle ends to make new ones, the cranberry jars will be perfect size candle jars.)

--All xmas wrapping, packaging, boxes, recycling etc is now burned or almost gone - kerbside recycling tomorrow.

Later today I might take the tree down and reclaim that space.
