2017 - No Clutter To Be Seen

I've made a small start today - two books and two jumpers into the charity shop bag. I've been lucky enough to get some new pyjamas for Christmas as my old ones are full of holes. The tatty ones are going to be cut up for rags and put away under the sink so they're not lurking in the wardrobe taking up space.0

We had quite a big declutter on New Year's Eve. I'm really pleased with how much we got rid of, but I'm not counting those things, because I want to go from the 1st Jan. So my list for today is short but better than nothing...
1. Reed Diffuser
2. Face Mask
3. Face Brush
...hoping to get rid of lots more tomorrow as well as hopefully listing some bits on eBay to sell0 -
Can I join?
I did this challenge 2 years ago, when we were re-arranging and decorating the children's bedrooms. This involved OH and I moving into the front room so 13yo DD and 12yoDS didn't need to share a room anymore. For nearly 12 months the front room was our bedroom at night (matresss on floor),then during the day,it was used as a front room usually is!
Anyway, last year,we had a house extension :j:j:j:j.I had waited about 6 years for it to happen. We now have our own bedroom, and alot more space in general (for 2 adults,4 children aged nearly 8 to nearly 15.)
But dear, the house does get in a muddle!!I hate clutter/mess,and it is a constant battle. My OH is a hoarder and messy,3 of the kids are messy. And I keep far too many "souvenirs" of my kids. How my loft has not collapsed with the weight of school books, drawings, toys, photographs,I do not know .
I love this time of year, because I start purging the house.I actually started a couple of days ago, with decluttering 10 and 7yo's bedroom.Took a couple of days, and filled at least a black bag of rubbish.
Today I have taken down Christmas tree and decs (love doing that :j),tidied, dusted, vacuumed front room,3 (children's ) bedrooms, cleared all kitchen surfaces, polished cabinet containing trinkets (dust magnets!),sorted out bundles of kids' drawings, sorted out a bag of "stuff" that was taken out of my car when it was having MOT last month, tidied under-stairs,cleared hallway,dust/polished thoughout........
Then I started pairing up socks in the "odd socks bag".
Place looks lovely, but I still haven't actually got rid of too much stuff.
A big aim for this year is to declutter the loft. When we were having the extnsion done, the electrician had to go up there. He later told me he had taken photos of it-he'd never seen so much stuff in a loft in all his years.:o.
So this year I have two aims:
get rid of at least 2 items from the loft every day
continue chipping away at the "stuff" in the house.

Hi Another bag now ready for cs . Found another cs bag yesterday so will fill that as well.
Also found a pair of safety specs so will take them to work. No use at home.
The xmas decs come down today so a lot of that will go as well.
Also 2 bags of very old toiletries and cosmetics binned.
Have decided that OH pants may need to be sorted this might mean buying new ones0 -
I have started!
1. Broken loo brush and holder
2 - 5. 4 x books
6 - 7. 2 x car mats which have been in my broom cupboard for years
8. Random metal pole which has been in my broom cupboard for years
9. Various cables and chargers for old electronic items
10 - 12. 3 x plastic boxes
13. 6 x small bags of general rubbish
14. Broken Sat Nav
15. Broken picture frame
16. Old ironing board cover
17. Old duvet and pillows
18. Selection of old batteries
I've also....
A) Bought a picture frame so the picture that's been on the dining table for the last three months can be hung on the wall, thus it will no longer be clutterLike others, sorted out all my toiletries - I had loads of half used ones in various bags from when I've been away, and loads of sample size ones I've collected from hotels on the basis "they will come in useful"! So now all the sample size ones are in the bathroom, all the part used ones are at the front of the cupboard and all the full/unopened ones are at the back of the cupboard. I do not think I will need to buy shower gell until around 2022!!

Can I join please? My house is worse than ever. I keep saying that this is the year for a new start. I have had friends for years who have never been to my house because it's such a mess - although I have just 'decluttered' one 'friend' from my life (long story!)3 stone down, 3 more to go0
-
Right, I have been to the storage unit and I have 8 black bin bags of clothes to go to the charity shop -and that's less than half of the clothes I've got stored there (I lost a lot of weight last year)
So, am off later to let the shop have the bags
Feeling lighter already :-)

Happy New Year!Worked out I have to get rid of 5.5 items a day-so today have sorted out 28 books to go the charity shop tomorrow-they are out the house and in the car so technically they have gone :-)
Only 1989 to go!
Hubs goes back to work tomorrow, then kids back to school on Weds-looking forward to having the house to myself for a bit!0 -
Afternoon All.
A few more bits packed up by front door, not quite OOTH, but ready to go. Couple of board games not played for years, the boxes take up so much space for what's actually in the box! Quick sort through DS's chest of drawers. 5 pairs of sports/casual shorts that are past best or too small, couple of T-shirts, sun hat, 2 pairs sunglasses he doesn't wear now. Decluttering temporarily suspended as Mr Sainsbury has arrived with my food shop and the washing machine is beeping at me. Once that's sorted, Christmas tree and decs are coming down. I had a good sort of what I have in that department when I put stuff away last year, but there might be a few more bits that could go. We'll see.
